CHAPTER 7
After I finished my kitchen chore, I joined Jay and the others. None of us wanted to go to school, nor did any of us want to turn on the tv. So, Jay and Jordan ended up asleep on the couch, leaving me and Matt in quiet company. I wasn't in the mood to read anything so I just sat on the floor quietly, staring blankly into space.
"Hey Avy, let's play monopoly", Matt says ever so sweetly. I look at him, surprised. Monopoly, wow. In truth I don't really know how to play monopoly. But what surprised me was that this moment reminded me strongly of an event in my favorite book, Paradise by Judith McNaught. I remember it so clearly.
Meredith Bancroft and Matt Farrel played monopoly in Matt's home in Edmunton. The game that made their bond stronger. Oh crap. Of all games why monopoly? Too shy to actually decline his offer, I gave in. "Sure", I say with a smile. Matt started to get the game when I suddenly blurted out,"I don't know how to play". My cheeks turned pink.
A playful grin spread onto Matts face. Damn he looks so beautiful in his white tee and jeans. "Don't worry, I'll teach you how to play." , Matt says as he sits down infront of me. And so our little game took its course.
