After the hours of praises and thanksgiving. The musical watch service was clanging, it was the time for resolutions, to try fixing the wrongs, to become a better soul. According to the opening speaker "to exorcise the haunting of past mistakes."
The huge tent was emptying of patrons, the woman and her husband sat at the end of a bench, as he rubbed his wife's shoulder to keep her warm, though the time was not too cold it was comforting, her device began vibrating, it was the older woman from the farm,
They said the new years greetings then the older lady asked about the girls.
"They choose staying home wit' them gran' mother to watch tv"
" y'u taking them to the children's treat in the morning?"
She confirmed with her husband who'd been listening.
" wha' th'pon the menu fish and bammy?"
"Fish f'we usually, is done in the early spring time holidays an' in the summer more fruits, salads and yoghourts but f'now me can't decide between, preprepared meats, stew peas an' cassava wrap or gungo soup with cassava wrap but we ha' enough ripe plantain, we wi' fry some, the piknney them love that wit' bread."

'Need help wit' the part of grating the cassavas, how the wrap make anyway?"
"Jus' like the bammy only thinner and more flexy."
" sound like it 'ould be very nice wit ackee an' sal'fish, though"
" then might be we could work that in, anyway wha' yu t'ink 'bout a hoola hoop challenge?"
"Could be fun, and rope skips and hop scotch, me use to play them, we ha' f' teach them ' bout these past activities."
"Yes" the young wife felt her husband trying to get her attention.
"Hum" he said " you have a' audience"
There were a group of people looking at her.
"You there?" came from the phone.
" please hol'on a second" she said then look enquiringly at the group that were made up of, if she could guess, wide international body,
" these new residents overheard your plans and is excited and would like to have inputs of their own traditions in an informal environment." One of the event speaker were escorting the small group.
The young wife smiled and spoke into the phone.
" you hear that, what y'u t'ink?"
" an interesting idea, more learning opportunities for the pikinney them."
The people who were listening keenly, developed wide grins.
They talked that they could show pieces of their traditions, 'food, songs and child friendly sports,' for the time of, their new year " occurring different times.
And so started a new tradition from the best of the old ones.
