Falling Down Until I Get to My Grandfather

It was the night of October 12th and I woke up in the middle of the night in need of a glass of water. I walked to the end of the hallway and tip toed past my brother's room. I finally got to the foot of the stairs when I heard a moan. I quickly turned my head over my left shoulder and I could have sworn I saw a shadow diminish. I ignored it thinking it was my imagination and I went down the first step when I felt a chill on my right shoulder. I shrugged my shoulders trying to push away the cold chill but it wouldn't stop. I decided to back to my bedroom to grab my robe. I walked quickly down the hallway trying to ignore all frightning things that were distracting me. I grabbed my black robe and threw it on over my pajamas. I then walked back towards the staircase, when I heard a moan from my brother's bedroom. It sounded like the same moan from before. I realized that it was probably nothing but my imagination trying to get freaked out when all I wanted to do was get a glass of water from the fridge. By now I was just angry that it had been 7 minutes and I still hadn't gotten my glass of water! I ran over to the stairs and started down them slowly when I got pushed on my back and I turned my head thinking it was my brother but no one was there. I went on down the stairs, thinking in the back of my head how scared I was. When I felt another push and this time harder and I lost my balance and fell down the stairs. Thudding my backbone against every step. When I finally stopped after 15 steps of agony, I was crying and craddling in a ball on the floor. I opened my eyes and saw shoes of a man and the bottom of a cane. I slowly lifted my head to figure out who the man was. He looked a lot like my grandfather who died 4 years ago from a heart attack. No one liked my grandpa though because he was always grumpy and had a bad attitude about having the ability to do things. Such as 2 months before he died we took him to the Pumpkin Patch and he didn't think that he could walk through the patch. We told him that he could do it and he decided to sit in the car the whole time reading. My mom freaked out on him and told him that we weren't taking him anywhere anymore. And that was final. We never did again. The figure I thought was my grandfather, couldn't have been so I rubbed my eyes a few times. Still I saw my grandpa. All of a sudden the figure disappeared and my parents were rushing down the stairs yelling "Nicole, Nicole are you all right?" "No," I said painfully, "my back hurts so bad I can't move it backwards, I have to stay hunched over like this." My parents woke up my brother Allan and took me to the emergency room. Immediately they took x-rays of my back and gave me a room. They told me I would need to stay at the hospital for about 4 nights so I could some rest. The doctors told me that if I wasn't able to walk within 48 hours, I might have a chance of parlyzement or death. While I was lying in my bed the next afternoon, I was praying I would be able to walk so I wouldn't have a chance of paralyzement or death. My family was sitting around my bed talking with each other when I saw the grandfather-like figure in the corner. I pointed to the corner, everybody turned there heads but saw nothing. My mom said "What Nicole?" I didn't have time to talk, I was in a trance staring at the figure. The dark figure had a sinister smirk on his face and all of sudden he ran over to my bedside and touched my soul with his cold, damp hand. He had taken my spirit. My last words were "UH!" with a gasp and then I died. My parents started to yell for nurses and surgeons. They felt my heartbeat and found nothing. I had died. My result of falling down the stairs was death. Not paralyzement, death. I was gone and no one could believe that it happened so suddenly. It turns out that the figure was my grandpa wanting revenge for our rudeness and harsh words to him the day at the Pumpkin Patch 2 months before he died. I will never forget that day or the day I died. Forever rest in peace.......
