I ran the brush through my hair several times before finally putting it in a messy side braid. I mean who cares, it's only my 1st day of college attending University Of California. I'm transferring over here from Florida, for personal issues and better opportunities. It's the 2nd semester of my first year in college. I want to make a good first impression, hopefully without making a fool of myself.
I look at myself one more time in the
mirror, straightening my outfit. I'm not very good at dressing to impress. But I did wear my best dress I have. A beautiful navy blue knee-length, sleeveless dress with some plain old flats I've had for years.I wrapped my cardigan around my arms and grabbed my not so small Aztec bag with tons of books in. After making sure i had my phone, keys, and other stuff I'll need through out the day, I threw my bag around my shoulder and hurried down the stairs.
"Goodmorning honey, do you want some breakfast before school?" My dad asked greeting me in the living room, sitting down on the sofa with his coffee mug in one hand newspaper in the other when I reached the bottom of the stairs. "No thanks dad, I really need to get going. I want get there early to find out where my first class is so I won't be lost like a complete idiot." I replied adjusting my bag on my shoulder. Dad put his newspaper down and got up with his coffee mug in his hand and walked over to me. "Calm down sweetie, everything will be fine. Have a great day, text or call me if you need anything." He kissed my forehead, and walked towards the kitchen. "Bye dad, love you!" I yelled walking out the door.
I reached in my bag and grabbed the keys to my little black 08 Jetta. It wasn't the best car but it wasn't the worst. It was my moms, one of the few things she left us when she abandoned my dad and I. But that's a story for another day. I got in my car, and turned on the AC. I sat there for a minute or two waiting for the car to cool down. As soon as it did, I pulled my phone out and putting in the directions to the University in the gps. I carefully followed the roads it told me too and made it to the campus with time to spare. Well more than a little time to spare considering it was only 7:20 and classes didn't start until 8:15. I circles around the parking lot looking for a parking spot.
Suddenly when I found a empty spot about to turn in, a range rover speeds past me into the spot. My face dropped and stared at the vehicle. Seriously? What a jerk. I stayed there waiting for whatever asshole did that. As I watched I noticed there was several people getting out the car. There's two boys and two girls that got out on each side of the car, but the driver hadn't got out yet. Each one of them looked at me with a unreadable look on their face. If I'm mistaken it's sort of an ugly look? I finally noticed the driver got out the car. It was another guy. He looked different from the others. His hair was brushed back into some sort of quiff, if you could call it that. The outfit he had on was decent, if you call his low leather pants hanging way below his waist and a jean jacket good looking. But his face sure was good looking, I certainly couldn't lie about that. He seemed to noticed me staring because he looked at me with a smirk on his face then threw his arm around one of the girl's shoulder. They all laughed and walked in a group towards the campus. I shook my head, interrupting my thoughts and continued too look for another parking spot available. It's to early for me to get caught up in some immature teens trying to mess with me. My face felt a little hot, considering that was a little embarrassing. Who am I kidding, that was so embarrassing!
When I finally found one, I noticed the time it was 7:36. Wow I took 16 minutes to find a parking spot. Unbelievable. I guess coming early was a good choice. I grabbed my bag and exited the car. I made my way towards a little coffee stand outside the campus. I ordered one of my favorite cups of coffee and made my way inside.
