The Tournament

  "Kat! Get your lazy butt out of bed! You're going to be late!" My father yelled up to me. I groaned;

"NO! I don't wanna!" I whine looking at my clock. The bright red letters showed 9:30.

"CRAP!" I yelled jumping out of bed. I'm going to be late! "DAD! Grab my bo staff please!" The national tournament starts in 15 minutes! Great, practically no time.. I threw up my red hair into a ponytail, grabbed my karate gi off of the cabinet nearby, along with my 3rd degree black belt before bolting down the stairs.

"Driving will take too long; so I'll shift and run there, ok?" I said as I passed my dad.

"Good luck!" He says before, roughly handing me my Bo. I attach my bo to my bag, and swing it onto my shoulder. I sprint out the door, shifting into my sleek midnight black wolf form mid-step. I sprinted as fast as I could to the national tournament. I ran through the doors of the stadium and into the girls locker room. I shifted back to my redhead self, and hastily threw on my gi. I ran out of the locker rooms, and turned to face the clock that hung on the wall next to me,"9:45..." I let out a massive sigh of relief. the tournament just started. I look at the ring assignments on the wall. Ring 1. YES! I've finally fought all the way to the top! I dashed over to the ring... All males? I looked around confused, who was I supposed to fight? There is always a mix of boys and girls. I walked up to the center judge.

"Um excuse me sir but who am I supposed to fight? aren't guys and girls in the same ring?" I politely asked. Yea just because I'm an alpha's daughter doesn't mean I don't have manners.

"And who might you be?" The judge asked.

"My name is Kat." I told him. He looked at his clip board with a confused look on his face.

"This must be wrong no girl has ever had a record like this..." he muttered distastefully. I peeked over his shoulder at the list with all the fighting records and burst out laughing. The judge jumped startled by my outburst.

"Thats me alright! I've been undefeated this season!" I say triumphantly.

"Well then miss... kat you'll be sparring with the males in the group.... no female has ever made it this far. That is if you want to spar against the males..." he said scratching his neck.

"Oh... thats cool with me! Thanks!" I say walking to find my own spot to warm up. I easily drop into the splits as stretch. I stretch for a few minutes before my head perks up when I hear them call my name.

"Kat Daniels daughter of alpha Daniels you will be fighting William Jackson the top royal guard." The announcer stated. I popped up and headed to the center of the ring sliding my head gear on.

"Bow to each other. now bow to me" said the center judge. We bowed and touched gloves.

"Good luck!" I said.

He nodded and said," you too..."

" and fight!" The center judge signaled our fight to start. He slightly stepped forward signaling he was going to do something. He did exactly as expected and I lifted my foot for a defensive side kick and nailed him right in the chest. The fight went on for a while and I kept dodging his attacks and analyzed his every move.

"And break!" Yelled the center judge signaling the end of the fight, "the end score is 8 to 1! Kat is victorious!" We bowed to each other and shook hands.

"Good fight!" I said taking off my head gear, " just a piece of advice you take a little step before you punch so it's an easy dodge and you do the same thing too often change it up or you get too predictable." He looked at me shocked.

"Wow thanks!" William said," you're a really good fighter you should be in the king's guard!" I laughed...

"Well I'm not that good..." I trailed off.

He cut me off," are you kidding! You're amazing! You kicked my butt and I'm the third best fighter in the royal army!" I rolled my eyes.

"Don't girls have to be all girly and wear dresses and stuff?" I ask disgusted. He laughed...

"Well you'd be a fighter so you wouldn't have to dress "all girly" as you put it" he said chuckling.

I sighed,"I'd love to but can't.." He cut me off yet again,

"What why!?" He whined and I growled I was an alpha and I hated being disrespected and interrupted.

" if you would let me finish! I am the only daughter of alpha Daniels so I will be receiving the alpha title soon." He chuckled,

"Yea I guess your pack is more important to you..."

I laughed and nodded. we kept talking as the other fights went on.

"Dude we are going to be awesome friends!" I exclaim enthusiastically, "I cant wait to see you again at the next tournament!"

He looked at me confused,"You are an alpha's daughter... aren't you going to the alpha princess games thingy then?"

"Wait! What alpha thingy!" I asked utterly confuzzled.

"kat come to the ring for the final match." The judge announced. I sighed.

I looked at Will with a glare, "We're finishing this conversation after I win this fight!" I said frustrated. I walked into the ring fighting the guy I was against no problem. Don't get me wrong he was a good fighter but was faster... So I won.

"Kat Daniels congratulations you are now the national sparring champion!" The announcer said enthusiastically, while handing me my huge trophy. I bowed to him and thanked him. Then I went back to where William was standing... But he wasn't there. I sighed and decided to head home. I'd get answers from my father. I grabbed all my stuff before I shifted and ran back home. I slammed open the door.

"Hello kat! How did you so? Did you win!?" My father said excitedly.

I rolled my eyes he was always like this,"yea dad I got first place! I'm a national champ!" I said in a happy voice showing him my huge trophy.

My whole demeanor changed as I said,"but what have you been keeping from me!" He sighed and ran a hand through his brown hair.

"Look dad I ran into the top royal guard today... I kicked his butt by the way, anyways he said something about an alpha princess competition."

"I wanted to tell you I did but didn't know how! Your my little girl and I didn't want to upset you." He said sadly. I softened at this and hugged him, "I'll always be your little girl daddy!" He smiled sadly,

"Prince Isaac is looking for a suitable mate so every alpha with a daughter between the ages of 16 and 20 are required to send them to the castle for five months so the prince can choose on of them as his mate." I pulled away from my father. I didn't want to go! I wouldn't fit in with all the spoiled rich girls begging for attention. I was a tomboy who doesn't care what others think! I hung my head I knew my dad was ordered to send me and had no choice so I just said defeatedly, "when do I leave?"

"In two days..." He said sadly. He didn't want me to go and I didn't want to go either... Ever since my mom died we've grown really close and now this stupid thing was going to mess my life up!
