Truth

When I got home, I did what I rarely did and went over to the cupboard and grabbed a bottle of alcohol, I began pouring it into a glass but was distracted by the knock on the door.

"Oh hi Lisa , how can I help you "

"Can I come in "

I pulled away and said

" please enter , haha"

She made her way through to the kitchen and stared at the glass I had left on the table

" Oh sorry , would you like some"

"No thanks, I don't drink , where did you get that from anyway ,your 17"

"My friends, they're at the legal age so they got me some , by the way I don't drink all the time"

"It's fine if you did , it's not my business what you do"

"Okay so anyway what did you want to talk to me about"

" Oh yeah , I need you to get Sydney to break up with Billy , I hate him and I'm worried there is something about him"

"What are you talking about , has he hurt Sydney"

"Not Sydney"

I looked at her confused and then said " what ,has he hurt you "

She nodded and said" the other day, I was angry and told Sydney to leave him , I didn't realise he was listening and then he said 'are we going Sydney', she then said 'yeah' and she walked out the door with Billy , but then Billy came back in and said ' left my phone' , I turned away from him and suddenly he shoved me against the wall and punched me in the stomach and slapped me across the face and said ' I'm capable of anything, remember that' and then he left and now I'm terrified to say anything to him"

I went over to hug her and said

"ill stop him , I'm not going to let him hurt her or you again"

Lisa stayed for a little while and we ordered in a pizza

"So how are you and James, you still going strong"

" Yeah we are really good , it's just a shame he is so far away"

"Why don't you go see him , I mean you can drive over to Sacramento and surprise him and also you could take Sydney so she gets away from that creep"

"That's a good idea but I don't think Sydney is going to want to come with me , she's annoyed by me because of what I said about Billy"

" Well I'm sure I can convince her, we need to get her away from him"

" Dylan can I ask you something"

"Yeah ,what is it about"

"Do you still like Sydney , i mean like more than friends "

" Yeah there's no point in lying , I am in love with her and I have been for years but I don't want her to freak out so I can't tell her and neither can you"

"Why can't you tell her "

" I don't want to ruin out friendship"

"Well Dylan , I will say now on behalf of me and the rest of my family if you ever do tell her , we will be happy for both of you but I do hope you tell her "

"Well thanks , but I think I'm gonna keep it to myself for now "

"Well okay then , I should probably go now actually"

I got out my seat to see lisa out the door and then went back to my seat and turned the TV on , Most Shocking my favourite. I was just getting into the program when my phone rang, I picked it up and was surprised to hear Sydney on the other side

"Hey Dylan , could you pick me up , Billy and I got in an argument and he's left me to walk back and it's raining"

"Yeah sure , where are you "

" Outside the movie theatre , please be as quick as you can ,the rain is getting heavier"

"I'm leaving now " I said as I was putting my shoes on.

I ran out and got in my car and drove to the movies , the rain was getting heavier and it was harder to drive.

I managed to get there and Sydney ran towards the car , I leant over to open it and she opened the door and said

" thank you "

"No problem , by the way Billy seems like a gentleman" I said sarcastically .

"He normally is but we argued "

" What you argued so he left you in the pouring rain where anything could have happened"

"Whatever Dylan, can we go to yours for a little bit "

"Yeah sure"

When we got back I let her in the house " wait don't sit down yet , let me get you some of my clothes to wear as you are soaked"

She looked at me and said "why can't I sit down "

"Your wet , you'll make the couch wet "

I rushed upstairs an grabbed some of my sweats she could wear and went back downstairs and gave them to her.as I was walking down I could hear her talking to somebody , she then said Billy.

"You left me in the rain to get sick , so I had to call someone and Dylan is my friend ,there is nothing going on between us" , I then carried on downstairs and made my self known and gave her the clothes , she mouthed thanks and went to the bathroom.

I was just minding my own business when I heard a loud bang coming from the front. I looked out the window and suddenly a brick was thrown at my window ,smashing it to pieces and scratching my face. I then heard "leave my girl alone".

I heard the bathroom door open and Sydney said "what the heck was that " she looked at my face and then said "oh my god , let me get you a towel ", she rushed to the kitchen and came back with a towel which she gently placed over the scratches on my face.

"What was that"

I didn't know whether to tell the truth or lie.

" Oh some guy threw a brick at the window , but I couldn't see who it was"

"Well you need to call someone so they can fix it "

"It's too late they won't come at this time"

"Ill call my dad and ask him to come over to help fix it, it's part of his job"

"I don't want to bother your dad"

"Too late, 'hey dad ,could you come over to Dylan's somebody threw a brick through the window and its smashed', thank you "

"My dad is coming , he will be over soon"

"You didn't need to do that , what if your dads busy"

"He isn't busy okay so don't worry my friend "

There it was ' friend ' that's all she saw me as, my thoughts were distracted by a knock at the door and I went over to open it and saw Michael , Sydney's brother.

"Where's dad , I thought he was coming" Sydney asked him.

" Well he was trying to do something when you called but he wasn't going to let the window be broken all night for someone to come through, so I came instead"

"Okay thanks bro" Sydney replied back to him.

Once he fixed up the window , Sydney left with him and I went straight to bed.
