The front door slammed causing Michael and I to jump slightly as we sat in the living room. Frowning, I got up to check it out only to have Luke walk into the room. One glance at him and I knew something was wrong. There were tear tracks on his cheeks and his eyes rimmed bright red.

"Luke? What happened?" His eyes kept darting around the room and he opened his mouth, but nothing came out. There was just a slight crack as he tried to speak. My frown deepened as I watched him, and felt Michael come up behind me. Luke's eyes finally landed on the two of us, and swallowed noisily.

"I'm gonna, uh, go to my room." His voice cracked softly before he turned to the stairs and trudged his way up.

"Luke?" I called after him, but I didn't receive an answer. It was hard to see him like this, and my chest felt tight. My best friend was hurting, and I didn't know if I could do anything to fix it.

"I wonder what happened?" I turned to Michael and bit my lip before looking down. He rubbed my arm gently as I spoke,

"He was supposed to be out with Alyssa. I hope everything is okay."

"Want me to go up and try to talk to him?"

"No, I'll go, but you might want to text the boys and let them know something is up." I leaned up on my tiptoes and kissed his cheek as he nodded. I spun on my feet and began making my way up to Luke's room. I knocked on his door lightly, but I didn't hear any movement from the other side. I sighed and tried again before popping the door open a crack.

"Luke? Can I come in?" I poked my head around the door and found him lying flat on his bed. He didn't say anything so I opened the door a little wider and captured his attention.

"Go away. I don't want to talk about it." He was blunt, but his voice sounded all wrong. I leaned in the doorway and swallowed hard.

"Are you okay?" I cringed at my own question, but I wasn't sure what else I could say. Luke sat up with a snap and his eyes narrowed at me.

"I said I didn't want to talk about it." His voice was sharp and I held up my hands. Getting into fights with Luke was rare, but I didn't want to give up. Even if I really should.

"I just wanted to -"

"Luna, please just get out and leave me alone!" His eyes were wide as he gestured to his door. I bit my tongue and stared at him for a minute. When I didn't move, Luke crossed the room and opened his door wide. He towered over me, glowering, until I sighed and moved through the doorway, only to have the door slammed shut behind me. I felt my mouth drop open as I turned to stare at it. I crossed my arms as loud music began to permeate the hallway from inside the closed off room. Shaking my head, I made my way back down to Michael.

"Hey, I heard the door slam. What happened?" He was frowning deeply as he stared over my head up the steps.

"I can't remember the last time he treated me the way he just did. It's my fault though. . .I did push it." I curled into Michael's side as he wrapped an arm around me.

"It'll be fine. Just give him some time." I sighed unhappily and leaned into him more. After a moment, I heard the front door open again.

"Hey you two, I'm about to get started on dinner. Michael, are you staying?" Liz paused in her walk to the kitchen as she waited for an answer.

"Actually, I should probably be heading back home. My aunt's come for a visit." I inwardly groaned as he nudged me toward the door.

"Well, tell your mum I said hello and remind her that the day after tomorrow you boys are going into the studio."
