M-A-T-E as in soulmate

I woke up and couldn't move. I tried to wiggle but could only move my legs. I'm trapped!

Wait! Since when did traps breathe?

I rolled over and came face to face with a sleeping Lucious.

I freaked and jumped back on instinct. Bad idea, my upper abdominal area started to hurt.

Then all of the sudden it all came back. The fight, James!

I shivered at the memory and that was enough to wake Lucious up.

He hugged me tightly and I cringed, "I thought I lost you." He said, his eyes glossy.

Well this is awkward, I don't even know who this guy is. I mean I would probably be sorry if he died but, he is a vampire so that probably won't happen. Anyways I'm not going to kiss him and tell him I love him.

I still let him hold me close liking his warmth he reminded me of my ex-boy friend, Eli.

I leaned in to his shirtless body, and breathed in his scent. It smelled of sugar and coffee.

"Do you drink coffee," I asked and I felt him smiling.

"Only when I'm stressed." He replied and got up.

"We need to go downstairs they'll be waiting for us."

I looked and saw that I had a large dark blue t-shirt that fell over some really short neon green shorts.

"Who has been changing me," it slipped out of my mouth before I could stop it.

He laughed as he walked into the bathroom, "Louise and yourself."

"What?"

"You wake up every day for an hour. You don't say anything you just drink, eat, shower, and go back to bed." He replied looking at me funny.

"I don't remember that," I said, "all I can remember is coming home with my stuff and a ton of food I couldn't wait to eat."

"Huh, that's weird. We'll find out about it later. There's a lot of weird stuff about you."

He said and I muttered under my breath, "love you too." It was just sarcastic but I think he heard it the wrong way.

I walked out of the room and walked down the stairs. At the end I stretched and felt way better even though my stretches hurt my stomach and leg.

I sat and everybody stared at me.

"What," I couldn't take the eyes any longer.

"Are you gonna tell us what happened?" Amin asked.

"Oh," I explained everything to them up to the second I woke up. Their mouths were hanging with open, and it was silent, you could hear a pin drop.

"You...you..." Drake started.

"Spit it out," I said it like I would say it to a brother.

"You lived." He spit out.

I face palmed myself and let out a deep breath, "you don't say!" I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm.

He just stared.

"What he means," Amin cut in, "is that you survived an attack from James. You not only lived but killed him in the process. He is an elder one of the oldest vampires and you just killed him. Vampires ten times your age have tried and failed."

I sat there and said the stupidest thing, "he looked too young to be an elder."

"Oh my gosh!" Louise fell back into Drake.
