"I know who your crush is." You choked on a piece of grape and instantly gasped for air. His taunting laughter immediately beamed through the other side of the line.
Moments later in a timed remark, he added in amusement. "You okay there, babe?"
You...

Jihoon didn't know how to kick-start a new life like this. He felt like an ass. He was sure he was born to be a jerk at this point. He would have loved to just shut himself up in his own cave and never come out, but there were more important things at hand.
With his father's company going bankrupt, there was probably going to be a retrenchment. And when that happens they'd have to be ready. Jihoon didn't think that their family savings so far were enough.
He needed a job.
Did he think it was going to be easy? No. And he was right.
A couple hours after walking on the streets, he already thought he'd walk the whole of Seoul just to find one simple job that would accept him in his age and his study levels. But most jobs required older people that could work full-time.
Eventually, he did find one in a gaming store he came across. The job was simple; dress up in a bear costume and be their mascot. The pay was alright too. And he could stay anonymous for that matter.
Anonymous. Was a good word at first. But when he saw you and Daniel walking right pass him on a sunny Wednesday morning, he almost wished he could reach out to you. Instead, he handed you a flower. You smiled at him and he swore his heart had never beat that fast in his life. He knew who you were, but you had no idea it was him.
And he had no right to tell you. Because he ended this himself like the coward he was.
"I got it!" a familiar voice beamed as the door of the restaurant next door opened. Jihoon wanted to scowl. Daniel handed one of the two ice cream cones in his hand to you and you thanked him with a tip of your head
"So did I guess it right?" Daniel asked, eyeing your ice cream cone.
You smiled, but Jihoon could see right through it. "You know me so well."
Maybe hiding behind this mask was all Jihoon was worth. A nobody. He couldn't even tell you how much he loved you before you left. So as he watched Daniel take your hand in his, well. He could only watch.

Holding Daniel's hand should have made your heart feel like leaping out of your chest in happiness. But all you felt was numbness on the inside. Sure, Daniel made you happy at times. He hadn't changed much when it came to hanging out with you, except that the term wouldn't be hanging out anymore.
You were going on dates. With Daniel. After Jihoon indirectly dumped you.
You wanted to slam your head against a brick wall so hard until you got amnesia because this mess of a drama was going to be the death of you anyway.
