The two of you stood there in each other's embrace for what seemed like hours. In reality, Connor had confessed to you only seconds ago, and you were simply blinking in an attempt to process this new information. His hands on your arms, his breath on your neck, his skin on your skin... it was all real. Nothing was fake. His love? You hoped that that was real too.

You clenched onto the fabric of his coat as tightly as you could, never wanting to let him go. You couldn't possibly let him go this time. Not when you were this close to him again; not when his very head sat on your shoulder, his hair woven through your delicate fingers.

"You... love me?"

It was more of an open-ended question. One that you hadn't intended for him to answer since it was more of a realization for yourself, but he answered anyways. He lifted his head from your neck and stared into your shaky eyes again, but this time he allowed his forehead to fall forward and rest comfortably against your own. The feeling of his cool skin against your warm skin was nice, especially since you felt as if you were going to melt at any given moment.

"I do love you. You've always treated me with kindness as opposed to the aggressive behavior some people display towards me. It troubled me to find out that there were possible errors in my software at first, but then I overcame them once I realized what they meant."

His explanation was long-winded, but you payed attention to every single word. Your eyes never left his chocolate-colored irises. You wished that you could just dive in and take a long swim, and a drink. When he looked at you, it made you feel so small, so fragile. His gaze had always made you feel weak-- his eyes just bore into you with such an intensity that was so delirious that it could snap you in half. Of course, he would never understand what you really meant if you ever told him that. You were wholeheartedly addicted to Connor.

"I- I didn't think that..." Your words took you nowhere, left your tongue astray as they struggled to find words adequate enough to tell him.

You pursed your lips in thought. Why were words so utterly difficult to convey? It was just a feeling, just a manner of explanation. Just say it.

"I didn't think you'd ever feel that way towards me, especially after what had happened last time."

"After I had been reset?"

"Yeah."

"I would've remembered things eventually."

"I know but, hope can only run so thin."

The two of you stood there in silence again, merely just enjoying each other's company in the 2 AM moonlight that poured in through Hank's kitchen windows. You could hear his fans whirring inside of his chest as your ear leaned against it; the soft sound soothed your mind and bones from their dreadful ache. The pounding beat of his thirium heart drummed against your skull, too.

"When you kept attacking me, I realized that I couldn't just let it keep happening," His voice rumbled against your ear as it sent vibrations through his chest. "I wanted to protect myself, but I wanted to protect you, too."

His voice was so sweet as well as his words. You felt like you could just drown in them if you kept on listening in.

"It kind of reminded me of that time you stood in front of my gun to prevent me from shooting Markus. I didn't end up doing shooting because no matter how much it conflicted with my software, I couldn't do it. I could never hurt you, (Y/n)."

With that, he gripped onto you a little tighter. You had just barely noticed the beat of his heart quicken its pace, the sound now tapping rapidly against your right eardrum. His chest pressed itself against your cheek as he took a long, deep breath.
