The Profiterole Thief

[Profiterole: A profiterole, cream puff, or chou à la crème is a filled French choux pastry ball with a typically sweet and moist filling of whipped cream, custard, pastry cream, or ice cream. The puffs may be decorated or left plain or garnished with chocolate sauce, caramel, or a dusting of powdered sugar. Kushari, also koshari, is an Egyptian dish originally made in the 19th century, made of rice, macaroni, and lentils mixed together, topped with a spiced tomato sauce and garlic vinegar, and garnished with chickpeas and crispy fried onions. Sprinklings of garlic juice, garlic vinegar, and hot sauce are optional.

Yugi's POV

I poked my head into Bakura's room after witnessing him grab a bag from a secret compartment in the fridge, I followed him back to his room. I watched him look around to make sure nobody saw him before he opened the bag and started munching on the pastries inside. *profiteroles, they're Bakura's favorite* +Kushari is my favorite+ 《burgers are mine》 I said before sneaking into Bakura's room. I slipped under his arm and snatched a profiterole and tried to pull back but Bakura pinned me down. *busted* I took a bite out of the stolen pastry and purred happily. 《Mmm, it's delicious》 "hey! Don't you dare tell anyone about this!" Bakura growled. "I promise I won't but you should be more cautious when grabbing your hidden treasure" I replied. He handed me another pastry "close the door and I'll allow you to have some more" he said. I closed the door before curling up beside Bakura. I purred happily as I munched on the sweet treats. "Don't tell Anzu I was eating sweets, she doesn't like it when I eat sweets without her permission" I said. +I hear someone coming+ I quickly hid the bag of profiteroles as Anzu walked in. "What are you doing here Yugi? I thought you were out with Ishizu" Anzu questioned. +that's right, you promised I could spend the day with my sister+ 《ok, I'm going》 I got up "why do you all seem so eager to get rid of me so much?" I questioned as I grabbed my stuff and headed out. I walked over to Shadi's house, where Ishizu was staying and knocking on the door. "Ishizu, it's me Marik" Marik said as I given him control over my body. He obviously had his own form instead of mine just how like Yami does when he's in control. I floated next to him with Yami beside me. "Marik! I'm so glad to see you again" she replied before they both headed out to catch up on everything they missed. +I can do whatever I please with your body as long as it isn't a threat to your safety, right?+ 《yes》 *just enjoy your day with your sister* +thanks Yugi+ 《my pleasure》

[4 hours later]

I huffed beginning to become weak +is something wrong little cub?+ 《I can only leave someone else in control of my body for 24 hours, I'm feeling a little bit weak but I'm ok》 +are you sure, I can give up control for you+ 《no, you haven't seen your sister for a year. Take as much time as you need》 +ok but you must tell me if you can't handle it+ 《I will》

[8 hours later]

It has been 12 hours since Marik took control over my body and I was beginning to feel the pain of the strain from not being in control. 《Only 12 more hours before you have to give me back control》 +ok+

[11 hours later]

I collapsed in my soul room from the pain 《I'm sorry to cut things short but I can't handle the pain anymore》 I received no response from Marik. 《Marik?》 I couldn't ask Yami why Marik wouldn't answer because he was asleep. I gasped in pain 《MARIK!》

[2 hours later]

+I'm so sorry Yugi, someone stole the puzzle and it took a while to find him+ 《...》 *aibou!* I quickly took over 《even when I'm not in control of my body, someone still tries to kill me》 +are you alright?+ I was picked up by Ishizu "little cub?" She questioned. I whimpered "I was away from my body for too long" I replied. I shivered cuddling closer to her "oh dear, you're running a fever" Ishizu said before carrying me back to Bakura's house. I growled as we walked past the game shop, something was wrong. I looked up to my previous bedroom window and saw Malik glaring down at me. I leapt from Ishizu's grasp and disappeared into the game shop. I bolted upstairs and tackled Malik. He threw me against the window before tackling me causing the window to break and sending us tumbling down the roof. Suddenly a large shadow dove at us both. It was that dragon shifter again, he snatched us both up before flying high into the sky. "This is not how I expected to die!" Malik screamed terrified. I kicked him in the face "we're not going to die!" I shouted angrily. *remember what Warren told you. You can tap into the dragon within if you focus* I took a deep breath and focused on my dragon. I shifted to a dragon, grabbing Malik and landed on the ground. +why are you protecting him!?+ 《I can't just let him be killed by a dragon》 I growled before leaping onto the other dragon's back and biting his wings in warning. The dragon fled before I shifted back to normal. "You just saved my life, why?" Malik asked confused. "I have no right to choose who lives and who dies" I replied. He froze "even after everything I've done to you and your friends?" He asked. "Yes, I know deep down you are good" I replied. "Thank you cub" Malik said as he got back up. This time I froze "you just called me cub, only my friends call me that" I said confused. "I don't want to be your enemy anymore" he replied. +he doesn't?+ "are you asking to be friends?" I questioned. "Yes" he replied nervously. *I know what you're thinking, it's not a good idea* 《I'm tired of fighting with him, it's worth a shot. I am willing to take a risk》 "ok, prove it then. Come with me to Bakura's house and I'll allow you to stay but if you try anything to hurt me or my friends then I'll leave you to the mercy of Fukushū, do you understand!" I barked. He looked frightened "yes of course, I understand" Malik replied. "Don't make me regret this" I growled before heading towards Bakura's house with Malik and Ishizu following behind. I led them into the house and upstairs to the bedrooms, I pointed to the bedroom to the left of the stairs at the end of the hallway "that is your room Ishizu" I said before turning to the room to the right of my room "that is your room Malik" I said before saying good night. +you're not going to make me go back to Malik are you?+ 《no, I wouldn't force you to do anything you're not comfortable with》 +thanks+ I curled up and fell asleep.

[3:00 am]

I was awoken by something, I froze as I saw the shadow of that creature that liked to torment me. It was at the end of my bed, I whimpered in fear. I noticed out of the corner of my eye, my door open and Malik stood there growling at the creature. He launched at the creature, chasing it back out the window. "Are you alright cub?" He asked genuinely concerned. I couldn't speak, still paralyzed from fear. Malik walked over and pulled me close "you're safe now, no need to be afraid" he said. I relaxed slightly *now would be a good time to test how patient he can be* I curled up against him, shaking with fear. He tensed before petting my head, he wasn't as gentle as my friends but wasn't so rough that it was uncomfortable. +he's not used to someone being sweet and affectionate+ I felt him relax and ease up on his petting. I purred happily as I slowly slipped back to sleep. I shifted to his lap, curling up once more before falling asleep.

Malik's POV

I tensed as Yugi shifted so his head was on my lap. I could hear his breathing relax indicating that he had fallen asleep. I remembered that Anzu said that he only fell asleep in the presence of those he trusts. "How can you trust me after I've hurt you so much" I whispered confused. I wasn't about to make him regret trusting me. I leaned against the headboard and fell asleep.

Anzu's POV

[9:00 am]

I walked into Yugi's room to see if he was awake but didn't expect to see him curled up asleep in Malik's lap. Malik was leaning against the headboard asleep as well. I quickly took a picture before running to wake up everyone else. "You need to see this but don't disturb them" I said leading them to Yugi's room. Everyone stood there shocked "how did this happen?!" Jonouchi questioned. His shouting had awoken Malik who hissed angrily. Even the millennium puzzle reacted to Jonouchi's shouting as if the two souls within were angry. "You disturbed them even though I told you not to" I growled. I heard a tiny whimper and turned to see Yugi now awake. He stretched out like a cat, yawning cutely and shaking his head like a cat would. "Good morning Yugi" I said. He purred happily "good morning Anzu" Yugi replied sleepily. I heard Ishizu walk in "good morning everyone" she said before picking up Yugi. Sometimes it was just so hard to resist the urge to pick him up. He never seemed to mind though, I think he liked it. She gently carried Yugi downstairs and into the kitchen.

Yugi's POV

"Good morning, what would you like for breakfast?" Bakura asked. *I want waffles* +steak and eggs please+ "uh, can I have waffles with steak and eggs on the side please?" I replied. "That's an odd request but ok. What would you like to drink?" He asked. *orange juice, you need the vitamin c* +milk is better, you don't get enough vitamin d+ "uh, orange juice please" I replied 《eggs have plenty of vitamin D and orange juice has vitamin C》 *fair enough* +I think my sister has become attached to you+ I looked up at Ishizu "can you please put me down?" I asked politely. She reluctantly put me down in a chair before sitting in the chair next to me. 《She might just kidnap me and bring me back with her to Egypt》 *I wouldn't put it past her* I looked up as Shadi walked in "good morning" I said to him. "Good morning cub" he replied ruffling my hair, I pawed his hand playfully. *he plans to kidnap you too* I finished my breakfast before heading into the living room, I was surprised to see Malik playing with Mokaba. *when did Mokaba get here?* 《do you think Seto knows his brother is here?》 +doubt it+
