Wednesday when I enter the lecture hall, there a three seats left empty. Normally, I sit in the back of the room but today I have no choice but to in the second row from the front of the room.

I sit down and direct my gaze towards the front of the room, crossing my arms over my chest, letting the girl beside me know that I'm not in the mood for chit chat with her, awaiting the start of class.

I'm surprised that Alex isn't here yet. Maybe he really did drop out of this class to please his parents, which is complete bullshit. He shouldn't have to give up what he's passionate about, just for them. They've lived their lives, it's time to let him live his.

But ten minutes later, Alex enters the room, with Matilda which shocks me even more. They're still hanging out. Alex is laughing at something that Matilda said to him. That's when I realise that Matilda and the friendship she's developing with Alex may be a threat to the bet that I have going with Nate and the others.

It pisses me off that Matilda's even here. I mean, I don't know her but she hasn't been in this class at all yet, so why is she here now?

The pair come and sit in the two seats in the row in front of me. They both obviously see me but neither one of them says anything. Instead, they keep talking in a hushed tone, making it so I can't hear what is is they're talking about.

Once the class ends, Matilda and Alex walk out together. They're in deep discussion about the topic of today's class. Before I have a chance to say anything to Alex, he tells Matilda that he'll see her later and rushes off in a different direction.

"Can I help you?" Matilda asks when she spins around after realising that I'm following her like a fucking lost puppy.

"What's going on with you and Alex?" I demand and she rolls her eyes.

"Seriously?" She asks, adjusting the strap of her material book bag on her shoulder.

"Yeah seriously, do you have a crush on him or something?" I snicker slightly, trying to make it seem like I'm making fun of them both, rather than gaining knowledge that will help me.

"Do you have a crush on Harley?" Matilda counters confidently, folding her arms across her chest.

"No. Fucking hell." I groan. "He's a friend." Sort of.

"Exactly. Alex and I are just friends. No, I don't have a crush on him. Even if I did, I can't see how it would be any of your business. You've made it clear that you don't like him or me." Matilda glares at me, shooting daggers with her eyes.

"Look," Matilda adds. "I don't know how Alex feels about me, but it's purely friendship from my side. Are you happy now?"

"Ecstatic." I say and turn around to walk off in the direction that I saw Alex go in, leaving Matilda alone on the stone footpath.
