The Return of Ancient Ties pt1

Yugi's POV

Everyone had either gone home or went out to get dinner, Shadi and Ishizu stayed behind with me and Malik. I just realized I was surrounded by Egyptians, not that it bothered me. I just felt weird because they were more mature and older than me. *I find that a little offensive* 《you're not helping, I feel so small amongst them》 +you are small though+ I huffed annoyed before demanding that everyone sit down, so I didn't feel so uncomfortable. I perked up as a feeling of dread washed over me. "Is something wrong cub?" Ishizu asked. I got up and poked my head outside my bedroom door. *What's wrong?* I turned my head towards the stairs and saw smoke rising from the bottom. "FIRE!" I screamed before the fire alarms went off. *how could you tell before anyone else?* 《don't know, I just felt an overwhelming sense of dread and followed my instincts》 +you really are like a cat+ I quickly ran over to the window "no use, the flames are already at this window!" I shouted before bolting into the hallway and to Mokaba's room "everyone out this window!" I commanded. "You should go out first" Ishizu said. "We're 50 feet off the ground, I need someone to catch me or I might injure myself" I replied. She reluctantly climbed out the window, followed by Shadi and Malik. "Come on Yugi!" Shadi shouted. I jumped back as a debris crashed in front of the window 《I'll have to find another way out》 I said before bolting out of the room. The flames blocked most of the pathways. I yelped as debris nearly landed on me. I coughed as the smoke made my eyes water. I found myself cornered in Bakura's room *Yugi?* I ran into the closet, closed the door and curled up as close to the wall as possible. 《I'm scared Yami》 *I know, it's going to be ok* +my sister won't give up on finding a way to save us!+ I could see the smoke entering the closet and the flames were right outside the door. I struggled to breathe as the flames consumed my oxygen. I whimpered 《what have I ever done to deserve this?》 *nothing, things like this just happen* I pulled my puzzle closer to me as I lost consciousness.

[Time skip]

When I came to, I was being carried out by a firefighter. *you alright little one?* I shook feeling very weak and tired, when I heard a voice that sounded familiar but at the same time it didn't. It was comforting though <your safe now my prince> *wha?! Did you hear that?* +it sounded like Seto but it didn't at the same time+ *it sounds so familiar, like I've heard the voice before* a name came to mind and without thinking I spoke it "Priest Seto" I squeaked. +Priest Seto was king Atem's friend+ *who?* again I spoke without thinking 《you》 I said before becoming aware of my surroundings. *what did you mean by that?* I looked confused 《by what?》 *when I asked who Atem was, you said 'you'* 《I did?》 +you don't remember?+ *what is the last thing you do remember?* 《hearing a voice, I don't remember anything afterwards》 *odd* +it felt like it was all just a dream+ I fell back to sleep as exhaustion overcame me.

[2 hours later]

I awoke again, this time in a hospital. I began to panic *calm down little one* 《I can't》 +why are you so afraid of hospitals anyway?+ I froze, whimpering 《I just had a bad experience, ok!》 *Yugi?* 《it happened when I was 6》 +what did?+ 《I was with my parents, we were driving out to visit my grandpa, when we were hit by a drunk driver》 *what?!* 《I was the only one to survive, my parents died in their hospital bed. That's the reason I hate hospitals so much, it brings back painful memories》 *I'm sorry aibou* I began to hyperventilate. +you're going to overwork your body if you don't get your breathing under control+ in my panic I had shifted to a dragon and flew out the window. *where are you going?* 《Kaiba's house》 I replied as my strength gave out, I shifted back before hitting the ground. 《Ow》 +baka!+ I managed to get enough strength to knock on the door. I looked up as Mokuba opened the door "Yugi?!" He shouted before calling for his brother "Big brother!" He called. "What Mokuba?" Seto asked as he walked over. "He's hurt!" Mokuba shouted before Seto picked me up. "What happened to you little cub?" He asked concerned. I could see someone with fluffy white hair pass by "Bakura's house burned down" I replied weakly. The person froze "my house!" Bakura screeched. "Seriously, that's what you're worried about?" Mokuba growled. "No! It's the creatures living in the house that I'm worried about" he replied. Realization dawned on me "the dogs!" I shouted panicked. "Did any of them get out?" Bakura asked worried. I looked up at him sadly "no" I replied. "Did our friends make it out?" Bakura asked. "Yes" I replied. I heard a familiar voice "no worries Bakura, I made sure all your animals were safe" Ishizu said. I noticed movement towards the back door of the house. *you see it too?* 《that large shadow creature that likes to come into my room at three in the morning, crawl onto my bed and stare down at me! Yes I saw it》 I looked over as I heard someone growling, it was Malik. He was staring at the back door, growling like a territorial dog. "Malik? What are you growling at?" Shadi asked concerned. "Something was out there" he replied. Kaiba quickly ushered everyone inside and closed the door, locking it. Something on tv caught my attention "4 more people were found dead inside their homes. People have reported seeing shadow creatures outside the houses of the victims. We advise everyone to keep their doors and windows locked. We don't advise going outside after 10:00 pm" the news reporter said. I screamed as the shadow dragged its claws down the glass door of the backyard. "What the fuck!" Seto shouted frightened. <they feed on fear> *it's the voice again* I relaxed "I'm not afraid of you!" I growled. The creature hissed as I was now in front of the door. "I'm not afraid of you, be gone" I commanded. <that's it my prince, you're doing it> the creature let out a scream before disintegrating. <great job little prince>. I shook my head confused on what just happened. *tell me you remember that* 《what? How did I get here?》 +he doesn't remember, just like last time+ I looked up at my friends confused. "What's going on?" I questioned. "You don't remember your bout of confidence and fearlessness?" Mokuba asked. "What? No I don't remember anything other than hearing a familiar, calming voice" I replied. "Can you describe what the voice sounded like and what it told you" Seto asked concerned. "It told me that the creatures feed on fear. It sounded almost exactly like Seto but different" I replied. *this voice, it only speaks to you in dire circumstances and it kept calling you its prince* a word came to mind "little prince" I said without thinking. "What?" Ishizu questioned. "That's what he calls me" I said. "Do you know the voice's name?" Bakura asked. I thought before the same name repeated over and over "Priest Seto" I replied before realizing that I had. "What?" Seto asked confused. I returned his confused look "did I say something?" I asked. "You really don't remember answering any of our questions?" Shadi asked concerned. "No" I replied, I wasn't worried at all. I felt like I could trust this new presence. "We'll discuss this later, it's late and I'm exhausted" Kaiba said before heading back to his room. I headed into the room I always stayed in here. <good night little prince> 《good night》 I replied before falling asleep.
