The roof was where you'd meet Felix after his late night practices. You wait up there with your laptop to pass time until you hear someone shuffle up the ladder beside you.

"Took you long enough," you sit, legs crossed and tucked inside your long black coat, "I was almost expecting a phone call telling me that you needed to stay longer."

"Sorry, didn't mean to make you wait that long," he pulls himself up and sits beside you, "had a slight dilemma."

"Nah, don't worry. I'm just glad we get to catch up before you fly home to see your FAMILY?!" You tell him with a giddy smile excitedly, seeing him give you a shy smile in return, "Aren't you stoked?!"

"Yeah, I really am," He nods and lets out a slight laugh, "it's gonna be good to be back. I miss them."

"As you should." You tell him and smile. His smile slowly fades as he bites his lip in thought. You raise an eyebrow.

"You are excited," you ask, leaning towards him, "... Right?"

He leans back on the stiff board underneath and crosses his arms over his chest. You see him look at the sky; emotionless and unreadable.

You lean back and lay beside him with a sigh, giving him a moment. You look up at the blanketed deep blue sky and its small twinkling lights. For a second, you close your eyes and breathe in the winter air and embrace how refreshing the cold is.

"The stars look brighter here than they do at home." he finally says.

You shoot your eyes open, furrowing your eyebrows. Huh?

"Hm, do they?" you question, wondering what he's trying to get at.

"Ah!" he reaches to shuffle for his backpack, looking inside the bag to grab a small brown paper bag. "I brought this for us to snack on. You know, because it's nearly Christmas and all." He opens it and gives you a slice of some sort of cake.

"Wow, you've planned this out well, haven't you?" you joke and take the piece from him. "Nah," he replies, "you're always bringing us snacks. Thought I'd return the favour."

You turn your head to give him a jokingly impressed look and he rolls his eyes. You take a small bite of the piece, almost instantly sour faced as you begin to sit up slowly and swallow.

"Are you alright?" he asks, still lying down on the board. You wipe your mouth with your sleeve and give him a thin lipped smile.

"Lix, I don't know where you got this from but..." you search for the right words to say while also thinking about grabbing the water bottle from his bag to wash down the taste, "This fruitcake tastes like shit."

He swallows and stops himself from taking another bite of his piece. Felix begins to sit up, and abruptly, begins to laugh so loud that his voice echoes throughout the empty street. You can't help but smile through your confusion as he cools down.

"Y/N, I made it."

You stop smiling and cover your mouth with your hand, holding back a cough as you see him awaiting a response.

"You- I..." You struggle for a reply, "It... it's got a- uh... a crunch?"

He begins to laugh again, yet you're not sure whether he's laughing because he agrees, or because you're an idiot and fruitcake should really taste like recycled garbage and raisons.

"You're so cute." He tells you, slightly surprising you- but more so surprising him as he stops smiling. "I mean... it's okay, really. I hadn't tried it until now and..." You hold your hands over your face and begin to laugh and he leans his head back on the roof once more- closing his eyes and giggling.

"Tell you what," he says, "we both eat one whole piece right now, and whoever loses has to finish the rest of it."

Next thing you know, the both of you rush to reach a hand in the bag as you stuff the cake in your mouths, chewing as fast as you humanly possibly can and dreading every minute if it- but laughing almost to the point of tears. You swallow and stick your tongue out at him.

You take the paper bag and scoot closer towards where he's sitting, putting the bag in the arm of his jacket and putting his hood on his head. "Merry Christmas, Felix." You joke and pat his head. You feel him lean towards you, and unknowingly, you slowly begin to as well. Your eyes are locked on each other's, and by habit, yours begin to flutter shut.

Then, you feel a small thud on your lap. You slowly open one eye and then both, seeing Felix already halfway down the ladder in front of you. On your lap sits the brown paper bag.

"Merry Christmas, Y/N!" he partially yells as he tries to ascend the ladder before you make it to him. "You're a pain, you know?!" you call out to him, seeing as he's made it to the street below.

"A pain who's gonna miss you on his trip," he replies, "You'll get a postcard! Promise!"
