kwon eunbin

the next day during lunch, donghan asked me to sit with him alone to have lunch together.

i was initially reluctant, i always had lunch with my friends and if i told them that donghan wanted me to have lunch together, i swear they would tease the shit out of me. also, i didn't want mine and donghan's relationship to get in between mine and my friends'.

however, there was no way i could reject donghan, so i agreed.

i could feel multiple pairs of eyes on me while donghan and i were eating, it was extremely uncomfortable for me indeed.

"i can't even eat like this," i whisper to donghan, loud enough for him to hear.

he looked up at me, then looked around, causing the people who were looking at us to turn away.

"why? it's alright, don't mind them," he smile at me and continued poking his vegetables and depositing it into his mouth.

but i couldn't not mind them.

i can't stand so much attention given to me, and i didn't like the idea of people gossiping about it.

donghan was one of those dream boy that all girls would want to date, he was handsome and so charismatic. i understand why people would question him dating me because there was such a large difference between him and me.

but i know donghan truly liked me, and i do too. i wouldn't let those people's gossip and stares make me feel unworthy of myself. i knew i wasn't as pretty as many other girls but i was sure i had a kind and genuine heart that many others don't.

"are you okay?" donghan asks, causing me to snap out of my thoughts.

"i'm fine," i smile back at him before picking up my utensils to continue eating.

"are you free today after school?" donghan asks as he took a sip of his milo.

"mhm, why? are you gonna ask ms kwon out?" i tease him with a small grin.

"why yes i am, will you, ms kwon, mind going out on a date with yours truly this fine afternoon?" donghan says, causing me to chuckle.

"don't you have basketball practice today though?" i ask. did i mention that donghan was in the school basketball team? well he was, and he was literally a star player and the captain of the team. that's another reason why donghan was such an ideal boy that girls adore.

"yeah, i'll skip it. i really feel like taking you out today," he says, causing my heart to skip a beat. he wasn't saying anything sweet to me, but it just made me feel things.

"alright then mr kim, i don't mind," i reply, earning a wide grin from donghan.

"you're skipping practice today? why?" seongwoo asked.

after finishing my lunch with eunbin, i helped her return our trays and i bumped into seongwoo, vice captain of the basketball team and one of my close friend, and i causally informed him that i won't be able to make it for practice today.

"what why? i've got something on today," i reply, a small smile creeping up my lips as i thought of eunbin.

"is it related to your new girlfriend?" seongwoo asked flatly.

"well.. yeah. she has a name and you know her name," i replied, cocking up my eyebrow slightly.

for whatever reason, my friends haven't been really friendly towards eunbin. ever since i got closer to eunbin, they never really showed any interest in my friendship with her. when i told them we were dating, they seemed shocked and all, but their reactions weren't really positive.

"you're the damn team captain and our tournament is coming up soon, how could you skip practice to go out with a girl?" seongwoo then says, causing the atmosphere to tense up.

i blinked, unsure of how i should respond. i didn't know he would have such a big reaction.

"i... it's just once, it won't affect the tournament that much will it.." i say with a small laugh. but seongwoo seemed dead serious.

"it will if your heart's not with the team. you aren't even eating with us anymore, why are you so obsessed over her? she's just a girl," seongwoo sighs.

"hey, it was just today that i wanted to eat with her, she has her own friends and i have you guys too. and i'm not obsessed over her, i just really really like eunbin, she's not just a girl, she's a really nice girl," i answer firmly.

"she's not that nice if she's making you ditch your friends and team practice," seongwoo says, rolling his eyes, not convinced by what i said at all.

i didn't know what was up with him, he usually wasn't like this, it was as if he was trying to start a fight with me over eunbin. he was a good friend and i honestly didn't want our friendship getting strained because of a girl.

"okay okay, i'll go for practice. i would never ditch you guys for her, i'll focus on practice and i won't think about her anymore, happy?" i gave in with a hint of annoyance in my voice.

"see you later then," seongwoo says before he walked off, satisfied at my response.

so much for taking eunbin out, i literally just asked her out 10 minutes ago and now i've to cancel it.

running a hand through my hair, i turned around to see eunbin waiting not very far away and walked towards her.

"hey i..." i said before trailing off.

"hm?" she hummed in response, waiting for me to continue talking.

"i don't think i'll be able to skip practice today. i'm sorry, i'll take you out another time, okay?" i say, feeling a little guilty.

"yah, it's alright. it's just a date, we can go anytime," she smiles back at me. gosh, could she get any cuter?

i smile at her as well, before placing my arm around her neck, pulling her closer to me.

"yah! let go!" she squirmed, causing me to chuckle.

i playfully pulled her into a headlock, earning a slap from her.

just like this, we made our way back to class.
