CHAPTER 2
'Beep beep beep beep beep' my alarm clock roared. I groaned and rolled over whacking the sleep button.
"Jess! Time to get up!" my mum called from the kitchen. I groaned again and slowly pulled the cover off, adjusting to the sudden cold. With my eyes still half closed, I shuffled out my bedroom grabbing my towel on the way, heading towards the bathroom. I showered, making sure not to get my dead straight brown hair wet. I turned off the taps and got out, and after drying myself, I splashed cold water in my face, waking me up immediately. I pulled on my jeans and a grey t shirt, pairing it with some grey ballet flats and a grey jacket. I pulled my hair into a ponytail and walked into the kitchen.
Mum set a plate of porridge down in front of me, and picking up a spoon I started eating it.
"Phone?" mum said
"Charged and in my pocket," I replied
"House keys?" mum continued
"In the front pocket of my bag," I replied through a mouthful of porridge.
"And wallet?" mum finished.
"20 bucks and in the front pocket with my keys," I concluded.
Mum smiled and ruffled my hair.
"Finish up, we're leaving in ten minutes," she said walking towards her and dads' bedroom.
I finished my porridge and went back into my room. Spotting my cat Minx on my bed, I pounced, and after ruffling her chubby cappuccino belly, she darted away.
I made my bed, opened my blinds, brushed my teeth and grabbed my bag before walking out the front door to mums Ute, preparing myself for a day at school.
