"I know, I know," I spoke into the phone, "but I'm telling you I won't be late."
It was snowing and my car wouldn't start this morning, so I had to walk to class today. Again.
"You should get that darn thing looked at," Susan said on the other line, "It's not safe for you to walk in this kind of weather."
"Don't worry, I'm walking through the park, not on the side of the road. That way some ammature driver won't hit me." Besides, I can't afford a mechanic right now.
"Aren't you cold?"
Right after she asked that I got blasted by a gust of polar wind.
"Dude, I can hear the wind though the phone, its practicly coming out of the speakers. In fact I better hang up because my face is getting too cold."
"You think your face is cold?" Maybe I should have stayed home at the apartment today. Then Susan and I could've had a girls party before she leaves to go visit her brother in California tonight.
"Well, I got to start packing."
"You know, you could have driven me to campus today in your car," I said before she decided to hang up.
"Too late now," Susan paused, "I can pick you up if you want?'
"Sounds good, I'll call you, bye."
"Alright, bye."
I stoped walking to put my phone in my back pocket. Susan was leaving one week earlier than the scheduled Christmas break. She explained to me that with the college classes she was taking, she could afford a couple of missed days.
I, however, definitly could not miss atleast one day, let alone a whole week. Studying to be an opthalmologist is hard work. Maybe too much work....
I stood in front of the park's artificial lake. It was frozen solid, quite beautiful with all the trees covered in snow.
I continued walking while staring at the lake. It truly was gorgeous...
As I passed under a tree, a tank sized pile of snow fell on me from the branches.
All the weight and force tipped me off balance and knocked me over. To my surprise I didn't hit the ground. Instead, I hit something hard that shattered like glass. Then I kept falling into an icy abyss. My lungs drew tight, and my nostrals were flaring. What was happening? Was I trapped under the snow?
Wait! I was drowning!
I kicked with all my might to reach the surface, but it was no use, I was stuck underneath the ice!
I was just about to give up when someone or something broke through the ice. They grabbed my arm and pulled me out from underneath the ice and dragged my body onto the snowy sidewalk.
I turned on my side an caughed out some water. My nose and ears were freezing and I'm pretty sure that my eyelashes looked like snowflakes.
I sat up and saw a very handsome figure staring directly at me.
"Are you okay?"
