Cynthia woke up around noon the next day. I was sitting in the kitchen feeding Meredith some pureed yams.

"What time is it?" Cynthia yawned, as she walked over to the sink and turned on the water before grabbing a cup.

"Noon. You slept over 12 hours, girly." I replied as I used the side of the spoon to clean up my daughter's mouth a bit so the yams wouldn't get all over her bib.

"You could've gotten me up. I would've been okay with that." She sighed, before downing a full glass of water.

"So, how are you feeling?" I questioned, as I stood and grabbed Meredith's bottle, before handing it to my baby.

"I'm feeling like shit. But eh, maybe I'll get lucky and have kids as good as yours are."

"My kids were trained, Cy." I smiled. I walked over to her and grabbed a frying pan out.

"Are you going to kill me?" She asked.

"No. I'm going to make you some eggs and some toast. Sit down and watch your niece."

"Will you help me figure out how to tell Gil?"

"Yeah, I'll help you with whatever you need." I smiled, before pulling her into a hug. I kissed her temple gently before letting her go sit by Meredith.

Cynthia and I sat down after I put Meredith down for her first nap of the day, and we started to think about ways she could tell Gil about the fact she was pregnant.

"What if he absolutely doesn't want a kid?" Cynthia breathed, as I sat back down with a cup of tea in my hands.

"He really likes kids, Cy. Whenever you two come over here, he loves to play with Meredith and Chris. I think he'll want a kid."

"I hope so." She frowned. She grabbed her phone and started to text Gil. I was inviting them over to dinner tonight, just in case the sudden surprise wasn't welcomed.

"Okay, he's on lunch and said he may be able to come over for dinner. God, this is so li-"

"Cy, you both are busy all the time. It's like him, because he may get caught up in something." I replied.

"Why are you so level headed?" Cynthia questioned.

"Because you can't be right now," I replied slowly.

"I'm going to crash in Mom's room. Wake me up once Chris and Mary get home."

"Okay, will do," I spoke. She stood and left. She was so tired and confused, and now she was worrying more than ever that Gil would change in a split second and not want anything to do with her or their child.

[*]

"Do you need help cleaning up?" Gil asked, as I walked around and picked up the empty plates. Chris and Mary were already in their rooms, and Meredith was sitting on Elliot's lap, as she played with his watch.

"No, I think I'm good. Elliot, mind helping me?" I questioned.

"Oh, I thought you were good?" He questioned, a small smile on his lips. I walked past him and elbowed him a bit in his shoulder, before heading into the kitchen.

Elliot followed and once the swinging door to our more proper dining room had swung closed, I sat the plates down and quickly walked back to it to listen.

"What are we doing?" Elliot whispered, as he came over and cuddled Meredith to his chest.

"Shh. I'm making sure that everything goes okay."

"What is she telling him? I'm assuming that's why we are eavesdropping."

"Just wait."

It was quiet for a while before Cynthia started to speak.

"Gil, I have something to tell you." She breathed.

"You can tell me anything, darling," Gil replied.

"When did you want to start thinking about starting a family? And is it something you'd want to do with me?"

"I love you, so much. Eventually, I want to marry you and have a family." Gil replied, and I let out a slow breath. I was hoping he would be okay with a small change in the plan he had for his future.

"What we if we were going to have a family sooner?"

"Is this you telling me that you are pregnant?" Gil replied.

"Are you okay if I was?" Cynthia breathed.

"It wouldn't be too big of an issue, love. I'd be okay with it." He spoke, and I turned around to look at my husband. He was smiling because he finally realized.

"Mere, you are going to have a cousin you can play with!" He whispered before we both walked away from the door to give them the privacy they didn't know that didn't have for a few minutes.

[*]

Cynthia and Gil were both excited when they left that night. Gil couldn't wait to be a father, and Cy was just thankful that she didn't have anything to be scared about anymore. Gil and she were going to be parents, and I couldn't wait to be an aunt.

"Hey, are you ready for bed?" I asked as I opened Mary's door after knocking on it.

"Yeah, I'm just finishing my essay," Mary spoke. I walked over and gently ran my fingers over her brown ponytail as I watched her finish a word.

"So, tomorrow Elliot and I have a meeting with our lawyer," I spoke, and she quickly turned around to look at me.

"About my adoption?" She asked, and I smiled and nodded.

"Yeah, and we are getting closer to being able to adopt you, love." I grinned. She quickly stood up and hugged me tightly. I ran my hands over her back.

"I can't wait, Liv. I'm so excited. And when you called me a Stabler, it made me feel like I really belong. Bernie and Joseph have been sending me letters when they send them to Chris. And Cynthia and I get along. It just makes this all so much easier."

"Well, I'm glad. Now, get in bed. You have school and I have to go to bed."

"Alright, well, thanks again. I love you." She breathed, as she shut her binder before heading over to her bed. I followed her and sat down on the edge of the bed as she shifted a bit under the sheets.

"I love you too, Mary."
