Pertrice! Pertrice!” My mother’s angry voice penetrated the dark silent night. I knew at once I was in deep trouble. I put on the most innocent face and rushed to the kitchen.
“Yes mummy” I answered.
“Did you take the money that was left on the table” She Questioned.
“No mummy” I responded.
“Well if so empty your pockets” She demanded. I froze in my tracks. She looked at me and if I was lying.
“No mummy” I responded.
“Ok then I will empty my pockets” I said. I emptied all my pockets except the little secret one at the top of my pants. With no evidence to tie me to the crime she quickly dismissed me. I walked away as proud as a peacock.
While I was walking I slipped and fell in the kitchen. All the money fell out. My heart began to thump in my chest.
“So you lied to me” she bellowed.
“ s-s-sorry mummy” I stammered . “I will make you sorry” She said grabbing the leather belt. The first stroke rocked my body and I went to my my mom crying my eyes out. From that day I vowed never to lie to my mother again because the consequences were very painful.
