~a few weeks later~

We were hanging out in the courtyard like nature-loving dorks. A small sheet of snow was starting to cover Hogwarts.  Anna and Lorcan’s relationship was growing stronger and stronger. Lily and Lysander started to become a thing, and then there was me. The awkward third, no, fifth wheel. I couldn’t really find anyone who fit my preferences. But for now, as long as they were happy, I was happy. I was especially happy about Lorcanna blossoming so well. Sometimes I imagine their wedding. I hope it comes to that. Thinking of that makes me smile. We are a little young, but it’s never too early to start planning.

We eventually went back to the house dorm and called it a day. Of course Anna and Lorcan were cuddling by the fire until we all decided to go to bed. Going to bed was sad for them because they had to get separated. They would stand in the middle of the dorm every night hand in hand while saying things like “sweet dreams”, “I love you”, “I’ll miss you”, and “Have a good night”. Before they officially parted ways for the night, one of them would either get a kiss on the cheek or on the forehead. It was really cute. I always went up with Anna and Lorcan went up with Lysander. Conveniently, I had the bed right next to Anna and sometimes we would stay up late telling ghost stories and spilling a LOT of tea if you know what I mean.

Next day we were hanging out, doing our thing in the courtyard when a weird girl bumped into me on accident, dropping the pile of books she was carrying. Without further identificaion, I helped her pick up her books. “Oh, you didn’t have to do that. I bumped into you. It’s on me” she stuttered, giving me a small smile. “Aw nah, it’s fine, don’t worry” I replied. That was weird, but I didn’t think too much about it and carried on with my day.

Later that night, I thought about it. The girl who bumped into me. The awkward smile she gave me. I was thinking about her when I went to bed, and still thinking about her when I got up. That week ended up being one of the most stressful non-exam weeks first year, and that smile got me through it. By that point, I knew I was in love.
