6: Pop's Dinner

"Hey Mel don't forget about tonight" Betts said as I hopped on my bike "I won't see you tonight at Pops" I said before pulling out of the parking lot than a heard a car horn "what where you going Serpent Slut" a man voice yells, looking back I turned off my bike, walking over to his car "you know what I'm tried of people calling me a Serpent slut and I don't have to be anywhere for awhile so I'm just going to sit right here" I said hopping on his car hood, leaning back and looking up to the sky "this is nice" I called back to the guy in the car "get off" I heard him yell back at me "not until you apologize"

"I'm not apologizing to someone like you I and if you don't get off I'll run over you and your bike"

"If you run over my bike....and eye for an eye"

"What the hell does that mean?"

"Mel would you please get off his hood" I heard a voice asked next to me, looking from the sky to the voice it was Jughead "Jughead? what are you doing here?"

"I'll tell you when you get off Reggie's car hood" Jughead said holding out his hand "fine," standing up on top  of Reggie's car hood I moved closer to Jughead "catch" I said jumping on Jughead "wow you're stronger than I thought" I replied as he carried me towards my bike "I have to meet up with Betts and Veronica"

"They Pop's fun raiser right?"

"Yeah" Jughead sat me down on my bike "let's head pop's than" Jughead said hopping on his bike and taking off I shortly followed him.

"So what do you think of the blackhood?" I asked Jughead as we pulled up at Pop's "how do you even know about him?"

"You remember that guy Mary and I almost killed?"

"Yeah?"

"He mentioned the blackhood?"

"To be honest Mel I don't know where to begin about him, I really don't know that much about him but I will find out who his is"

"I know you will Jughead you're a smart person, you got what it take to service this world" I said kissing the corner of Jughead's lips and walking into Pop's "Mel I got your outfit go change...you to Juggie" Mary said handing us are outfit "oh and I thought I left it at home, stupid me"

"I know you that's why I brought it with me " smiling at Mary I started taking off my shirt and pants "Mel! take your ass to the bathroom"

"woops" i said shrugging and walking to the bathroom. Walking out the bathroom Veronica was standing there with roller-skates "I'm not wearing those Veronica"

"Call me Ronnie and come on it wouldn't hurt"

"It might I might fall and brake my neck"

"Come on Mel I'll even wear them with you" Ronnie said pulling me into a booth "you're not going to spot until I put these on are you?"

"Nope" Ronnie said putting on her roller-skates "fine...whatever" I said taking off my shoes and putting on the roller-skates. These bring back members, I remember skating holding my mom's hand and looking over at Mary who was holding dad's hand on are way to abuela's  house.

"Better?" I said spinning around Ronnie "much better" she said smiling while taking my hand and leading me behind the counter "nice dress Mel never thought I'll see you in that" Jughead said wrapping his hands around me, pulling me close.  "I like you in a tie it looks good on you" I said straighten his bowtie. "Better" Jughead questioned smiling down at me "much" I said walking away and taking someone order.

"Come meet Josie and the pussycats before they perform" Betty said grabbing my hand and pulling me over to a group of girls, even if I wanted to stop her I couldn't I still had my skates on "Hello nice to meet you I'm Mel" I said as they stared up at me "Hey Mel I'm Josie"

"I'm Valerie there's one more of us but she went to the bathroom" nodded I looked over at Betty who was staring at Mary "excuse me, I have to go finish a order" I said to them as I walked away and went behind the counter next to Jughead "I think your girlfriend has a thing for my sister" I said moving closer to Jughead "me and betty broke up" he replied handing someone their change. "Do you want to talk about it?"

"No I'm alright" he said finally looking at me "how about we go look at Josie and the pussycats" I said grabbing his arm and walking out of Pop's "Mel's what a nice surprise to see you here" looking over I saw Hiram and Hermione "Hey...bye" i said pulling Jughead out the door and to the front of Pop's "would you like to come to my dad's place after this event is over" Jughead whispered into my ear "sure I always wanted to see where FP live" smiling up at Jughead hmm... i never notice how blue Jughead eyes are. "We should go finish serving everyone" I said walking back into Pop's.

Opening the door Pop's stood there "Mel I need to speak to you...in private" Pop's said looking at Jughead "Sure Pop's" I said pulling him to the office "What's wrong" I asked as I shut the door "After the Death Diner print  you know are sales have been really low" nodding he continued "I'm happy you are okay with me not having the money yet and I'm thankful for all the help you guys did but i think you should just give up on the diner no matter how much i love this diner i don't want to risk you going into bankrupt"

"Pops where are you going with this?"

"I've been talking to the lodges and they suggest we sell the diner to them"

"Hell no I'm not selling MY diner Pops, I've work to hard to keep this afloat and I refuse to give it up"

"I'm sorry if I upset you" Pops said hanging his head low. My attitude change Pops always had this effect on me, I didn't mean to be so anger with him "No I'm sorry Pops is just this place means so much to me, I want you to go and tell them no Pop's is not for sell" he nodded and I headed out. "What was that all about?" Jughead said walking into the office, closing the door behind him. "why are you soooo noise Jug"

"Because that's what I'm good at now tell me do you or do you not own Pops?"

"Yes I've owned Pop's for a long time...you and the lodges are stressing me out"

"What about the lodges?"

"Now that's none of your business Jug none of this is yours"

"Why are you trying to keep everything a secret, stop trying to face the world alone"

"Stop being such a smart ass" I yelled at Jughead. "Stop trying to take the whole world on your own"  he yelled back. "It's what i was taught to do Jughead... protect my sister, protect the one i love and protect my family it's what I'm made for"

"Mel-"

"You don't understand Jughead what I have to go through I can't show anyone NO weakness, I HAVE to stay strong, I HAVE to lead us Jughead the Serpent's are counting on me, I HAVE to show I'm the queen that I'm NOT to be fucked with" sighing I continued "it really takes a lot out of me" I finished walking towards the door stopping "one more than...no one needs to know about this not even Mary and now because of you dealing with Peabody I have to take care of her and it now" sighing once more I walked out back into the diner and finished the shift with a smile on my face.

As I walked out the door Jughead was leaning against his bike. "Do you want to talk?"

"I remember talking to FP a lot of times, he said you hated him he said that you said you would never join us. What changed?"

"He did, he made an effort he took another swing at being a good dad" Jughead said cutting and apple in pieces then offering me one, taking it I continued "but don't you think some people can't change like it's just in there DNA to be bad"

"Mel you're here because Archie dad almost died and my dad is going away for 20 years, I know you have to take on the world but you don't have to do it alone"

"Thank you Jughead" I said hugging him tight "do you want to stay the night Mary texted me earlier and said that she's going to Betty's house" I asked hopping on my bike and looking over at him "Mary and Betty now that's something I didn't see coming" Jughead chuckled "I don't know you might not have a girlfriend by tomorrow" I said smiling at him and driving out of Pops diner heading home with Jughead behind me.
