A young girl sat warm on the family couch as she watched the fireplace crackle and spark. Her older brother sat in the recliner in front of the television watching the News. The report was could be heard throughout the house. "Dang it!" He called out slamming his fist down on the chair arm. "Another vigilante attack happened last night! I know that the guy who got beat up was a bad dude, but citizens should leave the justice to the police department!" Their mother sighed loudly from the kitchen as she diced onions. "I don't see the big deal..."
"Someone just wants to see something done to fix the crime rate in this miserable town. All our police do nowadays is hand out parking tickets." She laughed as she slid the cut onions into a bowl. "You got work today, David?" Their mother said as she began to reach for another vegetable. David sighed and stood up from the recliner. "I might as well." He yawned as he walked back to his bedroom to change out of his night clothes. "How about you Daisy, do you have anything to do today?" Their mother smiled. Daisy pulled her attention away from the cozy flame.
"Oh um...I was just gonna go to some of the uh...shops heh." Daisy smiled innocently as she reach for her neon pink bag. Daisy's mom just laughed and looked back at her cutting board. "Alright...sure, just be back before dinner." Daisy grinned and ran to her room. She wore a black tank top with a neon cropped green t-shirt and a pair of ripped jeans with a pair of converse shoes. Daisy styled her pixie cut with a headband and a hair clip. She grabbed her bag and sprinted out the door.
The town was busy as the morning began, but Daisy didn't care. The only thing she had on her mind was exploring more of the woods that surrounded the town. She skipped down the path and of the trail down into the woods. It was beautiful and bright and everything in sight was shinning with a sunny ray. The further back you got into the forest the prettier it would become. Daisy could hear soft rustling from up in the tall trees. She smiled as she searched for birds or squirrels in the branches. She wasn't able to spot any.
The rustling sound spread from tree to tree as Daisy attempted to follow it. The closer the noise got the odder her surroundings. Eventually Daisy had become lost in the woods, but it was different. The forest was dark and damp. Daisy tried not to panic. She heard the rustling one more but this time it sounded more ominous, perhaps it was just the location. She had never been to the part of the forest before and she wished it would've stayed that way. Daisy looked up to see nothing but a few black feathers floating down from the trees.
Thank goodness. She thought to herself as she grabbed one out of the air. It was just a bird. Daisy looked around to find that she was completely lost in the middle of the woods. Another flapping noise came from behind her and she smiled. "Alright, I know you back there. Come on out little guy." She said as she turned to see the bird. But...it wasn't a bird at all. Before her stood a young masked man wearing only black with hair as white as snow. His eyes were red like fire. Daisy jumped from the sudden appearance.
"Oh! H-Hello there! I'm sorry I thought I was alone." She laughed nervously. The young man looked to be around the same age as her. He just stood there for a moment as if assessing the situation to find the best solution. Daisy cautiously took a step back. He pulled down his mask to reveal the rest of his pale face. His lips were pink and soft. "What are you doing here?" His voice was gentle yet had a commanding presence. "I-I uh...I was just um" Daisy stuttered. The man advanced without warning in unnecessarily loud anger.
He grabbed Daisy and pinned her against and large tree. "I said...who are you!?" He said with a growl. Daisy flinched and shook with fear. "I-I was just p-passing through!" She said as she turned her head. The man let go of her and held his arm in embarrassment. "I-I'm sorry I didn't mean t-" He sighed. "It's not safe here you need to go back to town." Daisy rolled her eyes and dusted herself off,"Well obviously! It's not like I want to be lost in here! I just got curious." He bit his lip.
"I could show you the way out-" He said apologetically. "No need. I don't want help from a hot um...head." She coughed awkwardly. He rolled his eyes and wrapped his arms around her from behind. Daisy's eyes widened and her face turned pink. "W-What are yo-" In the next moment large black wings spread out of the young man's back that spread to be about five feet across each. He flapped his massive wings and silently carried them off the ground. Daisy squealed and he covered her mouth with his hand. "Shhh...I won't hurt you." He smiled.
Daisy nodded and watched as he flew them out into the opening at the edge of town. He sat her carefully down in the grass a folded his wings into his hoodie. "You should head home to your family. I'm sorry for scaring you earlier, I just get flustered sometimes." He held out his leather gloved hand and grinned proudly. "My name is Isaac." Daisy smiled with a small laugh and shook his hand excitedly. "Daisy Valentine! Lovely to meet you." "Daisy...what a cute name." Isaac smiled his face dusted in pink. Daisy blushed and smiled happily at him.
