Long story

Lloyd's Pov

Nya had retreated to her room after her call with Edna. It was truly heartbreaking to hear. "I'm worried about Nya" I said as I ran my hand through my hair. "I'm worried about her too... I'm afraid that Jay's absence will take a large toll on her" Zane theorized. We all nodded in agreement. "Kai you're a little quiet today" I said realizing that the hotheaded red ninja hadn't spoken a word since last night. "I guess I should be honest with you... I didn't want to get Nya's hopes up but I heard Jay when I was touching the comb." He said as I literally held back a laugh. I didn't mean to be rude, but it was impossible for that to NOT be a hallucination. "Kai, are you sure it was not in your head?" Cole asked as we all looked at each other nervously. I didn't need to lose another team member. "I thought I was... But he was talking to me telling me I wasn't making it up and that he was really there!" He explained. I was quite intrigued whether it was a illusion or not. "Okay, let's test this theory... Cole can you go get the comb?" I asked anxiously. Cole nodded and went to retrieve the comb. 'It was interesting how the comb was blue when it was near us or lightning but silver when it was left alone' I thought as I made a mental side note to talk to Ed and Edna about dealing with their grief. I knew first hand that grief was awful and needed to be dealt with properly. I knew Sensei Wu had some books lying around in his bedroom about dealing with your grief, I would probably lend those to the old couple. I didn't think Nya would tell them, but when Edna called we all watched as she took a deep breath and broke the news. She wasn't ready, even though she told herself she was. I decided it was time to check on her, so I excused myself from the room and headed towards Nya's bedroom. "Nya?" I asked as I softly knocked on the gray door. It was silent. Silence always scared me, I was afraid of what it did to people. "I'm coming" I heard her finally whisper. I waited a few seconds as I studied the grain in the wood. Finally the door opened to reveal our fearless water ninja, who had obviously been crying. "Nya, may I come in?" I asked as I pushed the door open a little more. She nodded and opened it to let me in. I walked inside and took in my surroundings. No one had ever been inside Nya's room(aside from Jay and Kai). The walls were gray with blue swirls heading towards the ceiling. Her comforter was a simple light blue. Her room screamed Nya. But I could still find hints of Jay in her bedroom. I knew he had snuck that lightning dragon plushie into her room after their first date. It pained me but I smiled knowing she still held a part of him. "I'm fine if that's what you came to see" She said as she sat on her bed. I sat beside her as I stared at my hands. "Nya, don't lie to me. I know you're hurting" I said as I gritted my teeth. I didn't like it when people lied to me. "I know you are hurting just as bad as we are" I said as I put my hand on her shoulder. I watched as she collapsed at my touch, into tears. "I-I just feel so weak so-so dumb! Like I let him leave!" She said as she clutched one of her pillows. "Nya..." I whispered as I combed my hand through her hair. 'I know how she feels... But I've never lost someone I love in THAT way' I thought sadly. I couldn't help her. I knew how it felt to be abandoned by my parents, lose a dad, then a Sensei, then get them both back, then lose your dad again, and then your sensei, and then lose your mom to depression. But I had never lost a LOVED one before. "Nya, I'm-I'm so so sorry" I said joining her in tears. I couldn't be a good enough Master to help her. Jay was always the best at comforting someone, I failed in comparison.

Jay's Pov

It wasn't working. Kai didn't believe a word I said. "Mom, do you know how to make Kai believe me?" I asked as I picked at my nails, a nasty habit I had. "Try reaching out again next time you see them, he just is afraid of getting his hopes up." She sympathized. I knew she was right, It just was hard for me to imagine anyone grieving over me. I knew that it was going to happen... I just hadn't realized that anyone but my parents would even care. "Jay, someone is coming... I can feel it" My mom said as I felt a presence come near as the blue walls turned black. "It's Cole! He's coming to retrieve the comb!" I exclaimed as I stood up. It was almost time for me to try communicating again. "Okay remember close yours eyes and clear your brain. Focus on sending your thoughts to this Cole." She said as I closed my eyes. "Cole? Can you hear me?" I asked as I held my breath. There was a moment of silence before I heard a gasp. "Jay? I must be hearing things too..." Cole said as I felt his disbelief like a cold spring spreading through the walls of the comb. "Cole you aren't hearing things, I am alive. Ask me anything" I offered, practically beginning him to hear me. I could feel his uneasy smile. "Okay then... Jay what was the first thing you asked Nya when you met her?" He asked as I smiled. I remembered this day the very best. "Of course I do. I asked her what her favorite color was and she said it was blue" I answered with a smile. "I was so happy that I didn't shut up about it for a week" I added with a chuckle. I felt his hope and relief come in with like a warm summer breeze the walls glowed as I felt him believe me. "Jay! You-You're alive!" He exclaimed with pure joy. I smiled. "Uh sorta" I chuckled. "What do you mean?" He asked. "It's a long story, let me explain" I said with a big smile.

Zane's Pov

This was an amazing discovery, I am hardly wrong but for the first time. I had messed up. I had thought that all past lightning masters had perished after being struck by the purple lightning. It turns out that they go to reside in the lightning comb, something that I had no records of ever existing. "So will we tell Nya that Jay is alive?" Kai asked. We heard a glass shatter. We all turned around to see Nya standing in the doorway above broken glass. "He's alive?!" Nya exclaimed tears in her eyes. I didn't want to tell her yet. I was afraid it would get her hopes up, sure we knew Jay was alive. But could we bring him out of the comb? I couldn't promise her that he'd come back. "We have evidence that Jay might be alive, we can't prove that he will come back to us" I said tiptoeing around the fact that I, Zane Julien. Did not know the ending of this mission. "I'll do whatever it takes" Nya said with a smile.
