"Bellus..."
"So, Cor... Playing with food again?"
Cor turned around. Elanor and Mentis stood next to eachother a bit behind him. They then looked at the wolf in front of him. She looked a bit shorter. Lighter gray fur, yet no different than Cor's. Mentis then remembers. He taps Elanor, yet when he did, her face gave the indication that they realized the same thing. This wolf was at the meeting by that tree. Elanor saw her smile then, but the expression she wore now made it look as if she never smiled in her life. Yet, dispite that fact, Bellus was extremely beautiful. Bellus's granite eyes fixated on Elanor and Mentis. "Bellus, what are you doing here" Cor said in a harsh tone. Bellus, stepped closer slowly "Well, two of our pack came and told me you were having some snacks. Thought I'd join in." Bellus seemed to do a low growl under her breath. Cor started to move right, Bellus the opposite way. "Leave them alone, Bellus." Cor says "Their friends of mine"
"Ha! Friends of yours?" Bellus laughed, "You have always had this problem Cor, always soft. How are we to rule this forest, or any forest for that matter, if you can't rip your fangs and teeth into things weaker than you?"
Eleanor and Mentis slowly backed up, feeling fear over their heads. Bellus glances at them and they immediately freeze. Beautiful and dangerous, they both thought. Bellus looks back to Cor and smiles at his expression. It's harsh and very mighty.
"Now that's a look fit for a king" she says. She stands in front of him. "How about a deal?"
"A deal?"
"A mere test of glory" Bellus says.
"Loser is the one who goes hungry for one whole day, and victor" she stops and looks at Elanor and Mentis devilishly "The victor gets those two" she says.
Cor looks at her and cocks and eyebrow. "Why should I through with this Bellus?"
"Because if you don't, I'll call back those wolves and use them as evidence to your pathetic mercy. Father would outcast you." "Father knows the way of the forest. The Alpha celebration is finished and I was deemed Alpha. So stand down."
Bellus laughs a bit. "Well, all mighty alpha, this shouldn't be a problem for you."
Cor growled under his breath. He then took a deep breath and went into stance with his right legs a step back from the left and he crouched.
" Fine" he says "Let's do this"
Bellus laughs again and does a loud growl. She goes into a stance as well. Like marvelous statues, they both stood. The wind blew, swaying their fur to the sides of them.
Bellus took of, she pounced and bit Cor in the neck. Bite after bite Cor struggled to get her off. He then whips his head behind him and throws her in front. Cor claws her on the side of her face and they both stood dormant for a second and ran at each other again and again. Yelping, snarling, growling, all of that and at a lighting fast pace. Mentis looks at Elanor, frozen in fear. In her eyes, these weren't animals , they were beings with the greatest speed and strength, more than she's ever seen. Cor grabs Bellus's neck and, with a twist of his body, lifted her up and threw her against a tree behind him. Bellus looks up at him. Her body aches and she tries to stand, but falls back to the ground. Panting she looks up again and smiles "you're...strong. I'll give you that" she breathes heavily "but, you're no Alpha." Cor looks down at her. He sees a cut on her face and then let's out a small whine. Bending his head down to her, he begins to lick the cut. After he stopped, Bellus growled a bit. "You're too soft also." She murmured. In Cor's head, it was her way of thinking him. "I'm not soft Bellus. I just know how to give." The beaten wolf lays upon the ground. "You and father are both idiots. 'the law of the forest'. Why waste time when you can eat and rule over everything in the forest?" Elanor was astonished by what she saw and crept closer. Mentis then tried to get her back to where he thought it was safe, of course the owl failed at stopping her pride. She walked over to Bellus and looked at her. "Sorry, but as delicious as you may be Red-tail, I can't eat you tonight." Bellus said. Elanor scanned all of the beautiful wolf. Now there were some blood spots on the fur, but none the less Elanor thought she was breath taking. "I think she's taken I liking to you" Cor chuckles "I'd very much her rather become acquainted with the inside of my stomach." Bellus sighed. "But whatever you say my brother alpha."
"Brother?" Elanor says softly. Cor clears his throat. "Elanor, this is Bellus. My sister."
The fox gazed into the female wolves eyes. Gorgeous as they were scary. "So, what does alpha mean?" Bellus bursts into laughter, rolling around like a pig in the mud. "You don't know what alpha means?" She asks the fox. "Let me explain something to you, red-tail. We are the rulers of the forest, the almighty, the guardians of all things here." She boasted. "Woah," Elanor said, interested, "how noble. I was taught how to live by following a squirrel and rabbit, and I've never seen your kind before. I was always asleep as the sun left the sky."
"Well were around." Bellus went on, "Good thing too. It's almost spring."
Mentis's flaps over to the group. Elanor, while puzzled, looks at the faces of the wolves. They became so dismal, as if Bellus had just said something taboo. "Elanor...how long have you lived that way?" Cor asked. "Ever since I was a cub. Why?"
Everyone's faces turned cold. Mentis fluffs out his wings, "well because it's not always this way, dear." The owl take a breath. "Every year, ever since I can remember, the forest every spring is outrun by the Monsters. Giants who walk on their back legs, with sticks made of thunder and lightning. When they come, nobody Is safe."
"And this spring, our father can't fight," Bellus added, "He was wounded last spring and hasn't healed. His leg was hurt badly, and with his injuries, he can't lead."
