Close to Perfection - Chapter One

"Lilah I swear to God, if you don't wake up right now Mum is going to kill you!"

I woke up with a jolt. I turned and looked at the clock, 8.30, school starts at 9. Shit! I leaped out of bed and landed on the floor with a thump. Ouch. I grabbed some clean underwear and ran to the shower. After a nice hot shower I put on my school uniform, put some make up on and did my hair. 

People have always told me I'm pretty, but I have low self esteem so I've never really seen it. I have dark brown hair, with a strip of red in the back, a side fringe, and bright blue eyes people always seem to notice. I suppose I should tell you a bit about myself. My name is Lilah Mason, I'm almost 16, I have an older sister, I live with her, my Mum, and my Step Dad. My real dad lives in another state, with his wife and their son. 

"LILAH HURRY UP NOW!" My older sister yelled.

"Coming!" I replied. I ran downstairs into the kitchen where my sister was waiting for me. She's 18, just finished school and currently looking for a job.

" Jeez Lee, for an almost 16 year old I thought you'd at least be more organised.." she shot at me.

"Well for an 18 year old I thought you'd have a job right now Grace" I replied

She glared at me.

"Sorry Gracie, you know I'm not a morning person" I apologized.

"It's alright,' she said, handing me a piece of toast. "Now hurry the hell up and get to school before you're late!'

"Bye!' I yelled, as I walked out the door. Luckily for me, I only lived a 5 minute walk from school. I plugged headphones into my iPhone, and began the short walk to school.
