"What the hell was that?" Lola asked practically yelling at Annika.

They each stood in the middle of a tall tree.

Annika looked outside the tree and sighed as she leaned against the tree and slid down until she was sitting on it's trunk.

"What the hell did that Blood Crawler turn into?" Lola growled.

Annika sighed, "They're kids. Blood Crawlers are really young kids that don't have enough bad memories to turn them into a Dark Angel. They aren't useful enough to be Dark Angels," she informed, "so they turn them into blood craving monsters because that's all they can be useful for."

Lola went wide eyed, "then did you have to kill her?"

Annika shook her head, "they're dead to begin with... the only way to even get them to turn back into themselves is to kill them," she informed, "there's nothing you can do to get someone to turn back into a human... all you can do is kill the bad thing they've turned into and have the real person's body back."

Lola felt a huge depression come over her as she sat down in the tree as well. "What about when we jumped off the building? How the hell didn't my spine go through my head?" Lola asked a little calmer.

"Protection," Annika informed as she leaned over and laced the pearl in her fingers, "Pure protection was Sophie's purpose in life, and she has done everything in her power to do so then and now."

She untangled her fingers from the necklace leaned her head and back on the tree. "You would've liked Sophie," Annika informed as she closed her eyes and sighed, "She was a nice girl."

Lola smiled politely in response, and then a long moment of silence fell on them.

"What do we do now?" Lola asked as she looked to the tree tops, they were just above the canopy and she could still barely see the tops of the woods.

Annika shrugged, "we need to destroy their base," she opened her eyes, "then figure out the Dark Angels' plans on the town... like why are they releasing the Blood Crawlers... and if they are, will they also send out the trolls?"

Lola went wide eyed, "trolls?" she asked, "there's more than one?"

Annika nodded, "girls turn into ugly, sickly Dark Angels, boys turn into stupid trolls," she explained, "though to be honest with the boys I don't really see much difference."

Lola couldn't help but smile as she looked at Annika, who didn't seem to notice her joke. "What's the point in doing anything?" Lola asked folding her arms.

Annika looked at Lola, "Because the Dark Angels are gathering their forces, if they get enough then the Dark Lord will use them to completely take over all the kingdoms after he takes this one," Annika snapped, "and..." she spoke a little calmer, almost sadder, "Sophie made this town to protect her people, and the least I can do for her before I leave is stop this." Lola barely managed to nod, Annika tilted her head, "I'm a little surprised to see you saying something like that."

"Why? Because I'm a push-over?" Lola asked.

"No, because your too nice," Annika replied as she slid down the tree's trunk and elegantly landed on the ground.

"I am not!" Lola called as she attempted the same thing, but landed on her butt instead of her feet.

"It's nothing to be mad about, Lola. It's just you," Annika informed as she walked across the very small amount of clearing before the tree, "you're very emotional."

Lola folded her arms in annoyance, "I'm not too nice."

Annika smiled as she turned away from Lola, "yeah you are," she replied with amusement.
