I sat alone in my rocking chair, the pale moonlight shining in through the open window of my bedroom. A night filled with the sounds of the local nocturnal creatures and no people usually filled me with a sense of happiness, but things were different. They always have been different since that day. A heavy sigh erupted from within as my cell buzzed for the twentieth time in three days, agitating me until I picked it up. "Who's this?"

"Cain, it's me. We need to talk."

The sweet female voice on the other end belonged to Amelia, my supposed "partner" as she called it. She was the only person who stood up for me when I was driven away by the Farronsburg locals, and when I ran, she got caught by her father and publicly humiliated by everyone. "Cain, I'm sorry." She whispered, a hint of sorrow could be heard in her choked voice "I am so.. so sorry Cain, but I can't do this anymore. Just because I'm with you, everyone in town has been so violent towards me. At first, I thought I'd be able to take anything for our love, but it's starting to affect me mentally." Holding my head down, I formed my free hand into a tight fist before responding "So, it's come to the one person who knew the truth abandoning me? What of the promise you made me huh?"
"Cain, please! Yo-"
"I what? I don't understand?!"
"You never came back for me!"

"Why the hell didn't you come with me?!" I snarled, jumping up from my chair "You had the chance to run away with me like you promised, and you just stood there with your fucking father, arguing about how I didn't kill them! Why waste your time trying to reason with a man who never wanted us together to begin with?!" There was a brief silence between us after I blew up; a cold, dead, silence. Then I heard it, she was crying. For the second time in the two years we were dating, Amelia was crying. Through the sniffles, I could make out the words she was muttering "He took it from me Cain. The one thing I had saved for you.. it hurts so much.." The world crumbled when I heard those words. He hated me that much? A deep feeling of malice filled every cell of my body as I started for the door to the lounge, only to be stopped by a large black wolf. His fur behaving as if it were the very shadows that danced in the night, his eyes a crimson red with dark intent.
"Going somewhere Cain?"

Notes from author: This chapter is a trial, so depending on if I get bored or have a better start, I will or won't come and change it. Sorry it's short, but I have a lot going on as of making this. Thanks for stopping by! - C.V.K
