- I'm sorry, Kagami, Kuroko whispered, becoming silent again.- You can't help it, Kagami retorted shrugging, showing a forced smile which did absolutely not fool Kuroko.
His heart had sunk and he had to clear his throat before stating the obvious:
- I love you, Tetsuya...
Kagami looked at Kuroko who tensed but didn't turn away.
- I expected something like that but ... Kagami, I don't love you that way... he whispered.
It was incredibly painful. Kagami knew it but hearing Kuroko say it was way worse.
Yeah, it was cliché to say that, he thought, hurt. He did not think that there was such a barrier between thoughts and words. Knowing the Kuroko loved someone else was one thing. Hearing him directly turn his feelings down was something else.
Kagami was terribly suffering but tried not to show it. Pointlessly since a few tears silently rolled down. His cheeks. He wiped them out with irritation, shit, he was a guy, a true one! A guy entangled in his rough guy's shell that Kuroko had -despite himself- pierced! The shadow had the decency to act is if nothing happened, looking in the distance and Kagami appreciated it.
Then he felt sorry: Kuroko had enough issues these days, it was really not worth adding some more!
But it was so hard. So that was it, it was over? Kuroko would never return his feelings, end of the story?
His heartbeat quickened and felt really bad again then remembered that the shadow was in the same state -for other reasons but still-. He grabbed him by the shoulders and held him against him, putting his head on the blue hair. Kuroko shivered but didn't try to move away. Kagami clarified:
- Don't be scared, I will not hurt you. I would like you to see me like Kise or Aomine... With less of an annoying side, he added after a few seconds.
Tinkling laugh from Kuroko. A few minutes went by in a pleasant silence.
- and now? Kagami asked. Are you going to tell me what puts you in that state?
No answer. The Light leaned forward to see Kuroko's face and noticed the the latter had fallen asleep. A smile grew on his lips, so his former shadow was trusting him enough to let himself relax like that... He wasn't spiteful, huh! What Kagami didn't know was that Kuroko had forgiven that fast because he had suffered way worse from a jealous partner and that the player's attacks were nothing compared to his personal hell: Higeki Shirogane.
Kagami cautiously moved and put his hand behind Kuroko's nape to gently put his head on the cushion. Then he left the room and walked to the kitchen where he had ... how to out it? destroyed the door to get in? He sighed and started to fix the said door. Two hours later, Kagami was smiling seeing the door looking almost new. We'll, almost, but who will pay attention to the handle miserably dangling? As long as the door was firmly closed and preventing people from getting it, it was doing it's job ...
" As long as no one destroys it! " a voice in Kagami's head hissed as he shook his head.
He went back to see if Kuroko was okay -it was not the case and he knew it but reassuring oneself by seeing him sleep couldn't harm anyone!-
