Prologue.
“Interview stated 10:14pm 4th of April 2011,” the officer placed a grey what I could only guess a tape recorder in front of me. “Ethan Karton, do you understand what you’re doing here?”
I was in a smallish grey sound booth room kind of like the ones you see in recording studios but something told me I wasn’t gonna be singing at the end of this conversation.
“Do you know what you did? What your here for?”
Why was the officer continuing to ask that question he knew why, hell we both what I did so why push the matter? So I just pushed the thought from my head. I won’t answer to no one.
“Ethan?” This time he raised his voice a little more forcefully, I started to trace the scratches on the metal desk in front of me with my index finger, wondering if someone like me had been sitting in this very same cold, small chair at this very desk being questioned by their own personal officer.
“Ethan why are you here?” he stressed the why a little too much he was getting frustrated. His experienced grey blue eyes were staring at me head on. I could see his details more closely now, I would guess middle age but the grey short hair made him look older than he was, I bet that he thought that his badge intimidated me. Silence had filled the hollow room, it suited me hollow inside. Tears filled my eyes but what kind of man cries.
“Because I killed Chloe.”
