Down The Block (EddMatt)

Love is in the air

                    The next morning Edd practically launched out of bed as soon as his alarm clock went off. He changed his clothes, and then ran downstairs. Edd was very exited to see Matt that day, although he was exited to see Matt everyday... Once down the stairs he simply just grabbed a slice of toast and left the house! Edd didn't really want to talk to Eduardo, and he knew his aunt wouldn't mind. As Edd ran down the block he turned a corner to see Matt standing on the sidewalk a few feet away talking to Mark. Edd smiled as he dashed over and hugged Matt. 

              "Oh! Hi Eddie!!" Matt chirped. Matt wrapped one of his arms around Edd and looked at him then smiled as he said, "I told Mark about... Y'know." Matt winked as he blushed a bit. The three of them began to walk to the school. At first Edd was worried Mark would be like Eduardo and say some hurtful shit but instead he gave Edd a smile. 

             "Oh, Edd. I was wondering if I could hang out with you and Matt today, maybe you could show me where that guy Jon is. I want to give this back to him and apologize for Eduardo being an asshole yesterday." Mark mumbled rolling his eyes as he pulled out the purple drama sign up sheet.  

            "Oh, yeah sure!" Edd announced looking at Matt for approval. Edd could tell Matt was okay with it due to him looking really happy. Edd decided to make a move and to slowly reach over and hold Matt's hand. Matt looked at Edd and he began to blush as he looked down at his feet smiling. 

           "Hey, Edd?" Matt suddenly began to look a bit more serious, "Since you, Mark, and I are the only ones do you mind if I told you something important? Mark already knows and, I think you should know too." Matt mumbled looking up at Mark then back at Edd. 

          "Matt you can tell me anything!" Edd gave Matt's hand a tiny squeeze, this caused to create a tiny grin on Matt's face.

         "A couple of years ago, in about grade seven," Matt started, staring at his feet, "I had to transfer schools.. I told some people that I was... Gay and well I.. I never heard the end of it... Horrible things would get written on my locker in permanent marker, I would get tripped or shoved over all the time, and the worst part was that if I told a teacher about it everybody would start treating me worse." Matt mumbled frowning. 

        "Matt was very brave and was able to put up with it with a smile on his face until somebody cut him across the cheek outside of school with a pocket knife. Luckily it didn't leave a scar. I remember we transferred him that evening and he went to the other school the next morning." 

        "Did.... Did all of the really happen?!.." Edd looked at Matt with horror spread across his face. Matt simply nodded still looking at his feet. "Then I'll never let something like that happen to you again." Edd announced sounding determined. After that was a long silence, the only noise was the occasional snap of a twig as they walked. 

                     Eventually they arrived at the school, and the three of them walked into the school together. Edd could feel Matt's hand pulling out of Edd's grasp a little when they stepped into the school. Edd let go of Matt's hand as he understood he probably didn't want to get bullied out of anymore schools. Edd understood but he still looked over at Matt and whispered only loud enough for Matt to hear,

           "Y'know it's completely your choice but you know I won't let anything happen to you, if you still want to hold my hand." Edd gave Matt a teasing flirtatious look trying to lighten the mood. Matt simply giggled and mumbled you dork under his breath as he held Edd's hand again. Edd and Matt recognized Tom and Tord right away as they spotted them from across the library. They couldn't make out what they were talking about but Tord looked really happy and was blushing a bit more then normal. Matt shrugged it off and decided to let them talk without questions. Tom and Tord spotted Mark and looked confused but Matt quickly explained to them what happened, and they told Matt it was fine he hung out with them. Tord even said it with a grin. They spent a fun morning together before the bell rang dismissing them to their classes.
