" Oscar." Veena regarded him as soon as his arrived with a smile on her face as she lifted her binds a little.
" Not quite." Ozpin said to her, smiling back. Her smile fell as she raised her brow, she gave him a skeptical look and he knew she wanted an explaination. " He thought it'd be fair this way, two old souls against one another. It should be an interesting fight don't you think?"
" Maybe some ground rules to avoid killing each other. No magic, no Pyx and one semblance. Sound fair to you, Ozma?" She asked him as a smile grew, the count down began.
" Fair enough." The round began but neither moved forward. They circled each other slowly, brandishing their weapons to prepare for each other's first strike. Ozpin was honestly a little nervous to face off with her. This woman had trained legends and even led armies before. He may be a legend but he didn't make legends just the best. Ozpin moved for the first strike. She swiftly dodged left and swung her sword. The cane and the blade met.
" I thought your master taught you the pros and cons of a first strike." She said to him as she drove him back.
" He did." He jumped over and used her sword as a ramp and pushed her back. She only moved a couple inches, a calm expression on her face.
" Then list them." He dodged a couple strikes, barely missing his hair. He rolled over as the blade came crashing down, destroying where he stood.
" A first strike will be able to surprise your opponent." They exchanged a few blows before he backed off. " Putting you on an advantage!" He striked her shoulder and gave several blows. As the cane was about to go for her head, she dodged and ducked down. The sound of metal clicked and a shot fired directly at his chest. He managed to use his aura to make a shield but the shot was so close, causing his unfocused shield to break and push him back.
" When your opponent gives the first strike," Veena clicked her shotgun. " It allows you to recognise the direction of their attack. Thus, giving me an advantage." Ozpin rolled over as she fired another shot. He ran around as she fired repeatedly, occasionally needing to use his cane to block them. He ran up to her and used her as a ramp to get higher, his cane glowed a green aura as he striked downward. Veena watched him and looked at him in the eye, he flinched as he saw the full shaoe of her soul. " You know, when my semblance flows for others, they only see the spirits outside. Not within." She said to him as she held him in mid air, their weapons against another. She moved quickly and made him drop his cane. It skidded a little far off his reach.
" By the gods..." He muttered under his breath before dodging a few strikes. He saw the full figure of a woman, tall and proud. He couldn't understand the horns that were like rams, nor the form the dark figure had taken. He reminded himself to focus and managed to knock away her sword. She held up her fists and beckoned him to come over. " Before I do that, might I ask. Why the horns?"
" Wait. What?" It seemes that she doesn't know either. Taking the opportunity he lunged forward. The crowd cheered over the intensity of the battle.
" Damn." Qrow said, watching the fight. They were displaying immense skill as they fought. Any trained huntsman or millitant could see that. Before this he thought these tournaments were quite docile compared to what he's gone through but this, they're really not holding back. " Oof, that's gotta hurt." Ozpin received a direct blow to his chest, knocking the air out of him. He took a moment to take his breath, this was tougher than he thought.
" Oh no," Ruby could tell both sides were getting tired. Their aura levels were low. Although she tries not to show it but Veena was indeed starting to wear out.
' Oz, hang on. You can do this!' Oscar cheered his counterpart. Ozpin huffed as he dodged a few strikes. ' I can't hold out much longer.' He told him. ' She can't either...I'm sorry.' His olive eyes flashed and Oscar gasped just as he managed to dodge the hit. Veena let out a breath and this was his chance. As she turned for another strike, he mustered all his strength to deliver a kick to her head. Knocking her out of the competition. The crowd screamed and cheered for their victor. " I did it..." Oscar managed to say as he fell to his knees. He breathed heavily as his body reached the ground.
" Someone get the medics for those two." The announcer boomed. " Wooh, what a fight folks. Team JNOR wins the round with Oscar Pines taking home the gold! Man, I haven't seen a fight like that in ages! Stay tuned for the after show and bonus tournaments."
