CHAPTER 13
I looked in the mirror. The dress looked stunning. The see through sleeves fell over my wrists, leaving my freshly manicured nails exposed. I'd put on a pair of white ballet flats (I own a lot of flats) and my hair had been pinned up with two bangs that coiled down both sides of my face.
I put my phone, keys and some spare change in my white handbag, and I was ready.
The doorbell rang. I practically ran, but unfortunately Aaron beat me there.
"Are you Jess's boyfriend?" was all I heard before I basically picked up the little brat and threw him away from the door.
"Hi," I said nervously.
"Hi," Harry replied "I'd say that you look like an angel, but that'd be an understatement in at least 5 different ways,"
I blushed.
"Let's go," he said, taking my hand and kissing it, before our fingers interlocked.
Harry had hired a limo to take us to the dance, and we had it all to ourselves.
Once we were in the limo, I whispered in his ear,
"I'd take us flying, but this dress is totally impractical,"
Harry smiled that lopsided smile that I love so much.
"That's fine, we have days and days to go flying," he said, kissing my cheek.
We sat there in bliss the whole way to the dance.
"I love this song!" I shrieked.
Harry groaned as I dragged him onto the dance floor.
'Whataya want from me' by Adam Lambert pulsed out across the dance floor.
Once the song had ended, Felicia, the class president came onto the stage.
"Hi everyone, I hope you're all having a good time!" she exclaimed, her bright blonde hair bobbing as she jumped up and down with excitement.
"The house band has requested that a volunteer from the audience sings the next song, so who wants to?"
Girls were clamouring to get the spot, I didn't want any part of it, and that was fine, until
"She wants to sing!" Harry shouted, putting my hand up. I quickly tried to put it down, but the spotlight was already on me.
I sheepishly walked on stage.
The band started playing and I gulped when I realised what it was.
I had about 5 seconds to register, before I had to sing.
"When I was younger I watched,
My daddy cry,
And he cursed at the wind.
He broke his own heart and I watched,
As he tried to re-assemble it.
And my momma swore,
That she would,
Never let herself forget.
And that was the day that I promised,
That I'd never sing of love,
If it does not exist.
But you are, the only exception,
You are the only exception,
You are the only exception,
You are the only exception.
