He's Past, Her Future

Chapter One

Hi, my name is Athena B. Rose.
I was born on September 21 1994, I lived a happy childhood. Full of laughter and love from my mother, father, and younger brother. Until one day, finances became a huge problem and Danny my younger brother had leukemia.

We had to sell everything we ever owned to pay the hospital bills. We had to move in with my granny since we sold the house and the car. But living with my granny was pretty fun, and she thought us a lot of things.

I'll never forget what granny thought me and Danny

"We may be poor in our pockets, but we are rich in our heart".

I'll always carry that saying of granny. Years pass by and we are  all doing fine, it was as if there was no problem at all. Danny's leukemia disappeared and our finances became a problem no more.

I'm twenty five years old and currently working in M. Corporation. I've been working here ever since I was nineteen, and up until now I'm still here.

I've been working so hard for this company, but it seems like everything I do doesn't lift me any higher. I strive to become the company vice president, but my league in that game is a zero. I don't know what to do to get that position.

But then one day, Sir Liam called me to his office.

"Sir Liam? May I come in?"

"Please sit" he says.

I sit on the chair and look at Sir Liam as he takes a sip of his black coffee, as I look at him I feel my heart beat fast. Not because I like him, but because he has never called me in before.

"Athena, you've been working for the company for so long" he tells me.

"Yes I have sir" I say.

He nods and takes another sip from his coffee.

"Sir am I in trouble?" I ask.

"No, not at all" Sir Liam answers.

"Oh, well it's just that, you've never called me in before Sir" I tell him.

"Ms. Rose, please calm yourself down. I actually called you in here to give you an opportunity" Sir Liam says in his happy tone.

It's weird for me because I never hear his happy tone, and I never see a  smile on his face. So seeing him like this is weird and an honor at the same time.

"I'm giving you an assignment, and if you pass this assignment. Then you can kiss your cubicle a goodbye and a warm hello to your V.P. office".

When Sir Liam says those words I can feel my heart drop

"What?" I ask.

"The company, more of I decided for you to represent the company outside of the country" he says "We need to beat DropDiva in this article".

"And what will the article be about sir?".

He drops pictures on his desk and I see a man of royalty. Blonde hair, brown eyes, red lips, perfect skin tone.

"A prince?" I ask.

"Oh, not just any kind of prince. This is Prince Philip, the future king of Middleton. A lot of people have been saying that he shouldn't be in throne, and that he isn't any royal at all. There are rumors that Prince Philip had kill someone, and that's why I'm sending you out. Your job is to---"

"Know if those rumors are true" I continue.

"Exactly, and you need to find that out before DropDiva does. So are you in?" Sir Liam ask.

"Why me? Out of all people in the company sir? You choose me" I ask.

"Athena, I can see that you're a hard working woman, and you want to be the next V.P. of M. Corporation don't you? So I'm giving you the opportunity Athena, will you take it or leave it?" Sir Liam says.

I look down at my hands and back to Sir Liam.

"I'll take it sir" I answer him.

"Excellent! Your flight will be after tomorrow, and I'll be giving you the things you need tomorrow as well. Why don't you take the rest of the day off?" Sir Liam says as he escorts me out of his office.

"But sir I wouldn't want to ruin my perfect attendance" I tell him.

"This won't ruin anything Ms. Rose, we need you to rest. Besides, after tomorrow you'll be carrying the companies name on your shoulder. So Ms. Rose?".

I turn around and face him.

"Don't let us down alright?" He says.

"I won't sir".

"Good".

He closes the door and I start to do a little celebration dance, wow, this is amazing. I'm finally going to become the company's vice president, well if I do pass this assignment.

Which I definitely will pass in.

"You're looking happy" says James.

"Sir Liam just gave me an assignment" I say in excitement.

"Doesn't he always gives us assignment?" He asks.

I take a few of the papers James is holding and walk with him to his cubicle.

"But this is a different assignment, a special assignment actually" I tell James in joy.

"That's what he told me, it was a special assignment tracking down his ex wife" he says as he places the paper work on his table.

"I'm gonna go to Middleton James, where Prince Philip lives" I say.

"That cute bad boy prince?" He asks.

Wait his a bad boy? Hmm....

"A bad boy you say? Hmm.... Do you think that the rumors could be true? That he did kill somebody" I ask.

"Sir Liam told you to ruin his image didn't he?" James ask as he takes the rest of the paper work from me.

"No, he told me to beat DropDiva" I answer.

James rolls his eyes and sits on his chair.

"Congrats on your assignment, but just a little heads up, I think Prince Philip isn't that kind of a person" James says before he goes back to his work.

I look at him for a few seconds and head back to my cubicle. I sit down and start searching things about Prince Philip.
