NON-ROMANTIC
---
You stood in the corner of the party, idly chatting with some of the other princesses. Despite the early hour, your heels were already squishing your feet and the elegant dress your handmaid had picked for you was laced so tightly you felt as though you would collapse if you breathed too deeply. You sipped your glass of (preferred beverage) as you listened to the latest gossip about how Peach refused to be married and why that actually mattered. Spoiler: You didn't really care.
Link cautiously approached your group. "Your majesties," He bowed his head and you all greeted him politely. "Princess (Y/N)," Link gave you a gentle smile. "You would do me the honor of a dance?" His face was rosy and you could feel how nervous he was.
You looked around at the party, everyone except your group seemed to be dancing in the crowded space. "I'm sorry, but perhaps later in the evening?" You put a gentle hand on his shoulder. "I assure you, later tonight." You forced your voice to be as sympathetic as possible.
He answered with a half-hearted smile. "I understand, Princess. I'll look forward to another time." You felt a bit guilty hearing his voice, but he wasn't the first guy to ask you. He retreated back into the crowd and you turned back to the conversation.
--
"You see guys?" Young Link hissed. Villager and Toon fought to look out of the small closet they had crammed themselves into. "Guys stop moving so much."
"Yeah Toon, you're messing up his suit." Villager lightly pushed Toon back into the closet. Toon shoved back and the two began a slap fight.
"Guys," Young Link got in between them. "Guys, guys! Stop that!" The two stopped their fighting but glared at each other. "Did you see that? She rejected him!"
"Yes," Toon looked at Young Link blankly. "Because Wild is the absolute LEAST sophisticated and or mannered out of all of us."
"Guys, guys, guys." Villager urged them back to the door. "Marth is giving it a shot." Young Link immediately stuck his head outside the closet.
--
"Good evening, princess." Marth took your hand and softly kissed it.
"Good evening, Marth." You could feel yourself start to blush as you bowed your head. The ladies in your group gasped quietly and you knew they'd be hanging onto every word of your conversation. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
He lost a little bit of his confidence and started to blush. "I know there's other people that want to dance with you," He spoke quietly and stumbled on his words. "Maybe we could have one when you've finished with the others?"
"Are you asking me for a dance, hero-king?" You cocked your eyebrow, enjoying the power of confidence you had over him.
He shyly scratched the back of his neck as his cheeks grew more red. "Yes."
Pleased with his demeanor, you wrapped your arm around his. "Lead the way then." The girls gasped, Peach and Daisy clapped happily.
Marth chuckled lightly, "Of course, (Y/N)."
--
Young Link sat in the far most corner of the closet. "Why would she say yes to Marth and not Link?"
"Link, you're gonna ruin your suit sitting like that." Villager tried his best to pull his friend off the floor. "Come on Link, you still have a shot."
"No, I don't." Link moped. "She rejected the other Link."
Toon slapped him upside the head. "Wild is not a good, mannered man like the rest of us Links." He grabbed Young Link by his cheeks and forced his face up. "You are going out there and getting a dance with (Y/N)."
