The Cub's Nightmares pt1

Yugi's POV

I walked beside my friends, it had been 2 years since the pharaoh left me for the afterlife. I was much taller but still slightly shorter than my friends, even Anzu. All four spirits had left me, Marik returned to his own body, Priest Seto, Sir Mokuba and Atem had gone to the afterlife. I was now alone and I missed them greatly, it was difficult to go on without them. "You ok Yug?" Jonouchi asked concerned. I nodded "ya, I'm fine just tired" I replied faking a smile. "I should get going, I have things to do" I said before running off. I ran home, I no longer lived with my grandpa. I lived in a small house at the end of the street, I lived alone. I closed and locked the door, I looked up as my cat walked over to me, his name was Atem, I had adopted him two years ago after the pharaoh and the other three left. I picked him up "hello Atem, did you miss me?" I asked the black cat, he mewed happily. I attached the harness around my cat and took him for his daily walk. I was suddenly yanked into an alleyway "give me everything of value you have now!" The man demanded. Atem hissed before launching at the man, I screamed as the man snapped the cat's neck "NO! ATEM!" I cried. The man punched me before stealing my wallet and any jewelry I wore. Everything I had left was stolen from me "Atem" I whimpered as I picked up the small animal's body. I hugged my precious cat to my chest as I walked over to Anzu's house, I knocked on the door. "Yugi?" She questioned confused. "I was just robbed, they killed him!" I cried. "Killed who?" Anzu asked. "My cat, Atem" I replied revealing the dead body of my beloved cat. "Oh Yugi, I'm so sorry" Anzu said gently petting my head. I buried my head in her shoulder "I can't take this anymore! I wish Atem didn't leave!" I shouted angrily. I was stunned as I was slapped "how dare you! How can you be so selfish!?" Anzu screamed. I backed away "I thought coming to you would help me feel better but now I see nobody cares!" I whimpered before bolting to my house, I slammed the door and locked it. "WHY!? WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE ME?! WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS?!" I growled. I slid down the wall crying "ever since you left it's like no one actually cared about me, they only liked me because of you but now you're gone, I thought I would be able to survive without you but I was wrong" I whimpered. I was startled by a knock on the door "Yugi?! I'm sorry, I overreacted! Please open the door?" Anzu pleaded. I stayed quiet, slipping into my room upstairs. "YUGI!? Please answer me!" She commanded. I heard the front door get kicked in, I climbed out my window onto the roof. "YUGI!?" Anzu screamed angrily. I tumbled to the ground before getting up and sprinting away. I ran until my legs began to burn, I stopped to catch my breath, I was horrified as a car came at me. "YUGI!" Anzu screamed as the car slammed into me. "Please, I'm not ready to die. Help me" I pleaded as I hit the pavement. A bright light poured onto me *aibou?!* 《Ate...m?》 *I'm sorry, I shouldn't have left you. I didn't think things would get worse for you once we left, I won't break my promise again! I will protect you little one* 《I'm sorry, I'm too weak to defend myself! You shouldn't have to suffer because of me, I'm not worth it》 *you are worth it! I love you Yugi, I won't let you die like this!* 《all I wanted was to see you one last time before I died, there's nothing you can do to save me this time》 *I'll stay with you until you draw your last breath aibou* 《I would like that, thank you》 I looked up as Anzu knelt down beside me "please stay with me Yugi" she pleaded desperately. I smiled "my time has come Anzu, I forgive you" I replied before drawing my last breath. I jolted awake breathing heavily, I started crying frightened "Yug? What's wrong?" Jonouchi asked concerned. I looked at him sadly "just a nightmare" I replied before picking up my millennium puzzle *aibou? What's wrong?* <it's 3 in the morning> 《(whimpering) I had a nightmare》 +it's only a nightmare Yugi, it's not real!+ 《you're right, I'm sorry for bothering you!》 I placed the puzzle back on the nightstand. I got up "I'm going to get some water" I said before heading downstairs to the kitchen. "Little cub? Is something bothering you?" Seto asked concerned. I jumped as I hadn't seen him there "oh, Kaiba! You startled me" I said cleaning up the glass I accidentally broke, I hissed in pain as a large piece of glass stabbed into my right hand. "Things can't possibly get any worse!" I growled before stepping on a piece of glass "Gah!" I whimpered as I slipped and hit the ground. Seto stared down before pulling out his phone "Roxy, sorry to wake you but Yugi got injured by some broken glass" Kaiba said before hanging up. "Now tell me what's bothering you cub" Seto said. I sighed "I had a nightmare" I replied. "Want to talk about it?" He asked. I shook my head "no not really but I will if you promise not to tell anyone" I responded. "If it's the only way to get you to talk then I promise I won't tell anyone" he replied. "The four other spirits inhabiting my body left me, I had been alone for two years in the dream. I had a little black cat that I named Atem but I had been walking my cat when I was robbed, the man had killed my cat. I had gone to Anzu for support but had told her that I wish Atem didn't leave, she slapped me and called me selfish. I ran like a coward and hid in my house, she came knocking on my door to apologize but I climbed out the window and ran. I ran until I couldn't anymore but I hadn't paid attention to my surroundings and was hit by a car. Atem returned to me trying to save me but I knew my time was up, my life had finally come to an end. I woke up after that" I said with my head lowered. "Are you afraid of dying?" He questioned. "No, I'm afraid of dying alone. I'm afraid I will be abandoned as my life comes to an end" I cried. "Why is it so cold in here, the room is spinning" I whimpered as I lost consciousness.

[Time skip]

I awoke in the medbay, I looked around and realized that no one but me was in here. I whimpered "Roxy?" I questioned frightened. There was no response, I whined. I had bandages around my right hand and left foot, I wouldn't be able to stand up. 《《You would think they would remember your fear of being alone》》 《do you think you can get someone's attention, you're a demon. You might not be able to become visible but you interact with anything and you have a scream like a banshee》 《《I won't leave you alone so cover your ears Angel》》 I covered my ears as Fukushū screeched loudly. I giggled as everyone screamed panicked. 《《(Laughing)》》 I looked up as my friends stood in the doorway concerned "what!? Are you alright Yug?!" Jonouchi asked concerned. "I'm fine" I replied. "who screamed?" Anzu asked confused. "Fukushū" I replied nonchalantly. "Yugi! It's 2 in the morning!" Jonouchi growled annoyed. I huffed "I'm autophobic! Or do you not care!?" I whimpered. 《《Oh angel, please don't cry》》 I rolled over so my back was to my friends "it's ok, I'm sorry for bothering you" I said curling up. "Yugi? I'm sorry, please forgive me" Jonouchi pleaded. I turned my head towards him "I forgive you" I replied yawning. Exhaustion overcame me and I was soon asleep. I walked beside my friend, I was 7 years old, we were heading home from the arcade. "Yugi? Earth to Yugi" Anzu said gently poking my face. I looked up at her "huh?" I questioned. "I asked if you wanted to grab some lunch" she said. I nodded "sure" I replied, we headed to burger world. I looked up as someone walked in, they were acting nervous and had his hands in his pocket. My instincts warned me that this person was very dangerous. I kept a good eye on the man, growling when he got too close. Suddenly the man pulled out a knife and reached to grab Anzu. I acted quickly and bit his hand, "ahhh, fucking puppy!" He growled before slashing me, I yowled in pain as the knife sliced me in the side of my neck. I felt my canines lengthen and the other teeth became much sharper. I sank my teeth into his arm, I fought tooth and nail as he continued to stab me. "Die already you stupid dog!" He growled before fleeing, unable to handle anymore bites or scratches. The adrenaline stopped pumping through my veins and my wounds started to get to me. I stared up at Anzu frightened before I lost consciousness. I jolted awake terrified. I looked around and saw all my friends asleep on the beds and couches in the medbay. I looked at Anzu, that dream was really a memory that I tried to forget. "Yugi? Are you alright?" Anzu asked concerned. "Do you the time when you were 8, at the burger world?" I questioned. She stared shocked "Where you nearly died from being stabbed over 30 times!? The day you started to wear a choker? I do remember but I wish I didn't" she replied. "Why did you start wearing a choker Yug?" Jonouchi asked. I froze before removing my choker, revealing a long scar on the side of my neck "it happened when I was 7, I had just become friends with Anzu. Someone had tried to hurt her but I protected Anzu by attacking the man. I was slashed across the side of my neck and stabbed over 30 times, the doctors said I was lucky to be alive. An inch more to the right and the knife would have sliced my jugular, it would be an instant death" I replied. "So you started wearing a choker to hide the scar?" He asked. "Yes because too many people asked about the scar, so I decided to hide it" I replied. I looked up and realized everyone of my friends heard my story "did you hear all of that?" I questioned nervously, they all nodded. "I'm too tired to deal with any of this, I've been having nightmares a lot and haven't slept much because of it" I said before curling up and falling asleep.
