February 28th, 1996

It was cold and windy that Monday in London. 3am and no one was walking in the streets. The mist was covering the big city. Most of the citizens were sleeping and some of them were trying to get wasted in some night clubs, getting ready for the lust and the passion they were going to get afterwards. Either way, no one noticed the two figures that were walking nervously into the darkness. They were holding hands, walking fast, looking around searching for something. They were both wearing black. They were a couple. The only thing that you could distinguish in the darkness was the mans eyes. They were cyan and sparkling, easily seen under the hood of his long, black, velvet cloak. The woman was holding something like a big basket. Only when they under from a street light you could see how pale he was. He stopped and hugged his lover.

"Are you ok love? Are you cold? You're shaking." he said worried. His British accent was really thick and he was sounding like part of a royal family.

"No I'm not ok. I'm exhausted. A few hours ago I went through labor, giving birth to our beautiful daughter, route of our true love. Now, here we are, wandering around London, with our new born child in a basket, looking for a place to leave her. I'm devastated." she yelled at him and started crying.

"Shhh, I know, I know." he closed.her in his arms, holding her tight on his body. "You know, it's hard for me too. I love you and this baby. She is my daughter. But if they find out about her they will kill her, me and... I can't even imagine the things they'll do to you. You know our love is forbidden. They can't find out we are together. We will have to run away, although we will never be safe. This is beyond any power. They control everything. I will not let them harm you or our daughter. When she is old enough to understand, she will learn about us. She WILL understand. I'm sure. She is smart, like you!"

The woman looked at him right in his eyes.

"Do you think she will forgive us? I'm afraid she will never do so."

"You bet she will. We are protecting her. Besides, the Eldrichs are a very nice family. They are trying to have a baby but Mr. Eldrich... You know. They know about us and when I say us I mean me and you and me and the others. When I told them our situation, they immediately offered to help us and raise our daughter. Did you put the letter in the basket, as I told you?"

"Yes, I did. I appreciate that you wrote it. I wouldn't handle it if I had to do it by myself. Is the house far away? I can't feel my legs."

"It's just around the corner. When we leave her I will carry you. I promise. You can sleep in my arms baby. Come on we're almost there."

The couple reached the front door of a small house. The neighborhood was dark but the light in front of the Eldrichs' house was switched on, just like the man with the cloak had suggested a couple of weeks ago.

"I think it was really nice of them to let us pick the name" the woman said and her voice cracked

"What are you talking about? She is our baby. We have every right to pick her name. Now hun. This is the hard part. You know what you have to do"

The woman put the basket down slowly enough not to wake up the baby and her eyes watered. She looked at her daughter, who was sleeping.

"Look at her. She is just a little angel" she whispered, closed her eyes and blacked out.

The man was able to catch her before she hit the ground and lifted her up.

"Sleep my Queen. Sleep you had a rough day. And you..." he looked to the baby "... my princess. Daddy loves you. Remember that. I'll keep an eye on you in your dreams and I'll protect you from them. None of them will get to you. I love you."

A tear slid on his cheek as he uttered those last words. He took a step forward, carefully not to hit the basket and wake up his daughter, knocked at the door five times as they had agreed and then he left. His cloak was waving in the wind as he turned around the corner. But he didn't leave. He waited to hear the door opening. He wanted to be sure that she was safe.

Why aren't they-

Before he could finish his thought the door cracked open and the man smiled and turned around. The last thing he heard before he disappeared were Mrs Eldrich's words.

"Look at her Lucian, she is so beautiful."

She picked up the basket and read the note that was pinched on it.

"Hello, my name is Callypso"

She smiled, hugged her husband and they moved inside as a family, closing the door behind them
