A full moon shining bright, stars twinkling in the sky, everything seems peaceful.
A young woman stares from a window at the sky and dreams of things and places she has only read about in books.
She has tear stains on her cheeks and tears in her eyes as she looks at the moon high above.
She has seen so much pain and sadness in her 28 years, she has lost many people and pets that helped her to not be so lonely, she has learned to hide her pain from those around her, knowing that they don't truly understand why she is so different from the others around them, she has had to shoulder things for the sake of others from a very young age, and as a result she had to grow up quickly.
She has learned to cry silently, because she doesn't want anyone to hear her, she doesn't want to be seen as weak by others, so she puts on a mask to the world around her.
She was bullied from the time she started pre-school, to the end of high school, and there were times that she almost gave up on life, but that would have meant that the ones tormenting her would have won, and she would never let them make her seem even weaker than they perceived her to already be, so she kept walking on her path and did her best to remember that there were people who actually cared whether or not she was living at the end of the day.
Even now there are still people who try to make her feel like life isn't worth living, she just lets their words fall to the ground, because she knows her own self worth, and she will not let their actions hurt her so badly that she will give up, she just keeps walking on the path she is on, knowing that she is worthy of love and kindness.
She is different from everyone around her, she has been seen as a freak, a loner, an outcast, a blemish on society that should be removed, but through it all, she has also been seen as a person who will go above and beyond in the effort to help others around her, whether they are known friends or strangers on the street passing by, she is kind hearted and generous in kind words and actions, she has made it a pastime to make others around her laugh and smile so that their days can have a bright spot in them.
I am the person in this poem, I will not let the ones who want me to be gone from this world affect me so much that I stop being who I am, I will continue to be there for my friends, family, and those that need a smile or a kind word to make their day better, I will keep walking and stay true to myself. No one else can ask me to not be myself, because there is no one else that I would rather be than me.
