James Buchanan Barnes sat quietly at the table, fingers tapping on a cup of coffee, watching the steam swirl in the air, pondering.
"Hey, Buck."
He turned to meet your gaze. You were basically his best friend, after Steve of course. You had helped him open up, helped him heal so much after Hydra. Totally badass when fighting and dealing with people's bullshit (Tony), it surprised him how gentle and patient you were around him, never rushing him and always caring in the best way. It also surprised him that you had sought him out, as these days, the two of you had grown more distant, you always doing something else.
It hurt him, but it wasn't unexpected.
He knew that no one had the patience to care about him forever. Even Steve had talked to him less. He wondered if he had done something wrong. His friends were abandoning him, and maybe it was just him. No one wanted to be around him. He always ruined things. Bucky snapped out of his thoughts when you came closer.
"James?" You inquired softly. "Everything good?" He managed a smile. "Uh- yeah. I'm good."
You smiled back, but there was some concern evident in your face. There was something wrong, and you could tell.
"Are you busy right now?" He looked at you, a bit frustrated. Was he busy? You were the one always with the others in Stark's lab or something doing who knows what. He was lost without you.
"No."
Confused, you said nothing about that. "Oh- okay. Could you um, could you come with me for a second?" You asked nervously, fidgeting with your phone in your hands. "I've got something to show you."
Even though he was upset by your actions for the past few weeks, he would never pass up the chance to spend time with you, especially now. "Sure."

The two of you stood in silence in the elevator, waiting for your ascend to one of the top floors. You two usually were super comfortable around each other, and silence was never weird or uncomfortable. But this was different. There was tension in the air, and you shifted around awkwardly. He sighed, the discomfort and urge growing stronger every minute. "W-what's in your mind?" You asked, trying to break the ice.
Exhaling softly through his nose, he ran his fingers through his hair.
"Have I done something wrong?" He asked, not meeting your eyes. You froze, realizing this must be because of all your time spent working on the project, and you hadn't spent time with one of your best friends, whom you had developed feelings for. You opened your mouth to try to answer, then was interrupted by a pleasant 'ding!' and the elevator doors sliding open.
Quickly walking out, feeling Bucky follow with his eyes on you, you led him to your room. It was uniquely designed, with two floors in the room itself. In the corner of the second layer, was a door to the balcony. Near it were two couches, and large windows.
A simple, caramel colored wooden acoustic guitar sat propped up against the wall.
"Sit." You sank into one of the soft cushioned couches, and your companion hesitated, than gingerly took a seat beside you.
Picking up the guitar and wiping your hands, you tried to calm your nerves and stop your fingers from shaking. "This is what I've been working on for the past month.
Pulling out your phone, you pressed play on a recording that Tony had helped you make.
You plucked a few random chords to warm up a bit, and, feeling his eyes on you, inhaled deeply and began to play a simple tune, hummed a bit, then began to sing in a soft, gentle voice.

- "Wake up -
And smell the coffee
Is your cup
half full or empty
When we talk
You say it softly
But I love
- " it when you're awfully quiet" -

You gazed into his eyes, a shy blush creeping on both of your faces. You continued.
-"Mmm -

Quiet.
Mmm

You see
A piece of paper
Could be
a little greater
Show me
what you can make her
You'll never know
until you try it

Mmm

And you don't have to keep it quiet

And I know
It makes you nervous
But I promise you it's worth it
To show them everything you kept inside
Don't hide
Don't hide
Too shy to say
-but I hope you stay"-

You glanced down bashfully, then looked back at his adorably surprised, flushed face.

- " Don't hide away
Come out and play" -

You then set your guitar aside, the music still playing from the recording, and took his hand, and pointed to the large, fluffy snowflakes swirling outside, gathering together.

- "Look up -
Out of your window
See snow
won't let it in though
Leave home
and feel the wind blow
Cause it's colder here inside in          -silence"-

You smiled at him and pushed open the door to the balcony, leading him outside into the winter air, bringing the music along with you.

- "And you don't have to keep it -
quiet

Yeah I know
it makes you nervous
But I promise you it's worth it
To show 'me everything you've kept inside
Don't hide
Don't hide
Too shy to say
But I hope you stay
Don't hide away
-Come out and play"-

The music continued playing, and the two of you slowly twirled around in the falling snow, your hands on his shoulders and his on your waist, spinning gently with the snowflakes in a simple dance.

For a while, the two of you held each other, enjoying each other's warmth, the view, and the gentle melodic plinking of the guitar.
Then you broke the silence.
"I-I'm sorry."
Bucky blinked a few times, not understanding for a few seconds. You were sorry to bring it up again, as he had seemingly forgotten.
But you wanted to clear the air, to acknowledge the mistakes you made.
"For not paying attention to you for so long. I'm so sorry, Buck.  I was just so focused on writing the song for you and wanting for it to be perfect that I didn't do anything with you. It was completely my fault, and a waste of time. The song didn't even turn out that good. If you're still mad, I understand. I'll make it up to you. Oh god, I'm such an idio-"

He placed a few fingers under your chin, lifting it so you gazed into each others eyes, cutting off your endless rambling of apologies. "Hey. Y/N. It's fine. You did something amazing for me, that I didn't deserve. That was beautiful. I loved it. This is more than enough."
Lost in his gorgeous, silvery blue eyes, you noticed they were filled with nothing but reassurance and gentleness. And love. Lots of love.
"No. This isn't enough for you, James. You deserve more. You deserve the best."
Bucky studied your features. Just looking at you made his chest swell and his heart pound. Your gentle eyes were a soft e/c hue, and every curve of your body, every part, every flaw, came together like perfection to him. "Well I've already got the best I can get. It's right in front of me."
Smiling tenderly at you, he finally summoned up the courage, and placed his left hand on your rosy cheek, his palm gently cupping the soft skin and rubbed his thumb and your cheekbone, gently caressing. You had spent so long helping him, guiding him, teaching him to do things himself. He wanted to make the first move. Slowly, his face drew closer to yours.
The thumping of your heartbeat was so fast, so audible you were sure he could hear it. Nevertheless, you continued, the longing so strong you were getting drawn to him like a magnet.
Finally your lips lightly pressed onto his, in a soft and sweet kiss. His  mind went fuzzy. All he could think about was you, your soft lips on his, your fingers running and gently tugging his brown locks soothingly, and vice versa.
Before he could deepen it, you pulled back, leaving a dreamy super soldier who then pouted, disappointed. "More?"
You giggled, and pecked his nose, melting into his chest. His face flushed. "I love you."
He murmured. Beaming up at him, you kissed him again. "I love you too." You mumbled. "So much." His body relaxed, and he enjoyed the moment. All the fear was gone. All the pain, the nervousness, the hesitation, it vanished.
Later, when the two of you were cuddling in your room watching movies, the reassurance stayed with him. He didn't have to worry anymore. You loved him.
He was yours.
With you, he was no longer broken. With you, he was home.

Ok that was hard to write, even though I really like the idea. I just wrote it down and I wrote it so badly. Ugh. Well, thanks for reading and please request things or I will have no ideas :(
