It's raining again.
The world outside the window seems wet and cold. Jess has been observing the raindrops that fall on the window and ripples it made on the puddle for 30 minutes now.
She loves to be home but she loves Kevin's house even more. They promised to watch movies together tonight, under the blanket accompanied by hot chocolate, but it looks like Kevin is stuck in the middle of his businesses.
Well, she doesn't really mind. The rain really does keeps her busy every time.
Looking back in time she sees her younger self ignorant about an emotion called love. She was a freshman, a 19 year old that never really had an actual relationship. She was neither uninterested nor desperate. She just loved herself and the way it already is.
Jess closes her eyes and smiles softly. The memories of that day reminisce like it was yesterday. Her love for her boyfriend never changed from then until now. However, she wasn't so sure if it was the same case with Kevin. She knows he loves her, but maybe that's the limit of it all. She really isn't sure.
The bell rings faintly and Jess gets up to get the door. She puts on the widest smile when she sees Kevin a bit wet from the rain while holding a grocery bag in his hand.
He smiles back and says, "Hello sweetheart. I'm sorry I took so long. The road got blocked by a fallen tree."
He uses his other hand to give her a hug and then looks adorably at her and say, "Erm, I'm wet and cold, aren't you going to let me in?" He grins.Jess laughs and gives him way to enter. Kevin goes to the kitchen to put the groceries away and asks, "Were you bored by yourself?"
"Nah, but I want to watch the movies with you but that person never shows up so..."
Kevin comes back with two cup of hot chocolate in his hands and a box of popcorn. He puts them on the coffee table and settles down on the couch.
"Come. That person is here now." He pats down the couch to signal her to sit.
Jess hums and takes a seat right beside him. They chose the longest running movie on Jess's movie list. Falling asleep while the television watching them instead has becoming a norm.
The movie runs for an hour and a half by now but none of them seem to be sleepy. One scene from the movie, though, reminds Jess of Kevin and their future together.
Jess sits up, no longer leaning on Kevin's shoulders and blankly stares at the television.
Kevin realises that something is bothering Jess, "Is something wrong?", he asks.
Jess looks at him and observes his eyes, then she says, "Kev, it's been 6 years. Are we really just going to stay this way?"
Kevin raises his eyebrows, "What do you mean?"
"You know what I mean."
Kevin closes his eyes and leans behind while resting his head. "Oh, Jess," he mutters. "Not this again. It's still very early and you know that."
Jess looks at him with disbelief. Kevin takes the remote controller and turns off the television. Feeling uneasy, he squeezes the pillow close to his chest and leans again.
Jess bits her lips and protests, "No it's not. It's been the longest it can be," she pauses a moment and thinks whether she should continues talking or not, but she did anyway, "Am I even in your future at all, Kevin?"
He tenses up and finally looks at her in the eyes, "Hey, you know that I'm not ready. How can you say that?"
Kevin rises and takes his bag, ready to leave. Unsatisfied, Jess tries to convince him, "Kevin th-"
