Why?

Why? I think it is safe to say that everyone in the world has inquired either verbally or mentally the "why?" of a situation or process. Every kid asks it way too much because, having just been introduced to the world, they are eager to know anything and everything possible.

Yet, those who are wise know that ignorance is bliss. They know that explanations and the truth can hurt... a lot. The truth is often so painful to believe that people tend to lie, even to themselves, to protect their fragile human minds by building up a psychological wall as a natural defense. This wall goes by the name of "denial" and often leads to insanity or eventually even more pain. This self-preserving aspect of your mind puts you into a delusional world: a utopia. Denial prevents you from realizing that utopias can not actually exist, and that you have unintentionally created a dystopia.

In Greek, "utopia" translates to "no place". Apparently, even the Greeks knew it was merely an idealistic concept that could never exist in reality. However, for some reason, the modern people of today have adapted the word to mean "a perfect world". Alas, perfection has no definitive definition as it too is merely a concept: a concept that our minds have conjured up while striving for absolute flawlessness - something that is obviously unachievable. Everything has its flaws, imperfections, and irrepairable issues. The same is true for everyone. Despite this, some people will do anything and everything they can to become perfect. And yet, they never stop to think, "Why does this matter so much?" Why...?
