Chapter 23
Thursday continued
Brianna’s POV:
When I left the guys’ house this morning, I couldn’t believe what I had seen. Especially after the conversation Nathan and I had earlier that morning. I know that running out wasn’t the best idea but I just needed to go home, get in the shower, clear my head, and then head to the studio. Once I got outta the shower, I dressed in something that I would wear to NYU. I threw on some jean shorts, an off-the-shoulder tee, a grey beanie, my blue and white Jordan’s, and a pair of sunglasses. Once I felt like I looked somewhat presentable, I grabbed my phone and headed to my car. I didn’t drive like I normally would because I was just going to talk to Jayne.
I was a little hungry, so I stopped by the café, talked to Marcus, and then headed to the studio. The guys should be there already so I calmed down a little bit. I headed up to our studio floor and looked around for Jayne. When I didn’t find her, I finally decided to check the studio and there she was. Everything stopped and everybody just looked at me. Déjà vu or what? I avoided the stares and focused on Jayne. “Jayne!” it was supposed to be a whisper but it came out as a shouted whisper. She whipped around, whispered something in the choreographer’s ear and walked towards me. “Hi, we’re gonna to my office in the building, ok?” “Yeah.” That was all I could get out due to my nerves. We walked in silence for a few seconds until we came to Jayne’s office. She sat down behind her desk while I sat in the chair across from her. I had word vomit all of a sudden and just said what I was thinking.
Me: “Am I being fired? I don’t know what I did. Please don’t fire me. I love this job.” Jayne seemed to find my nerves hysterical because she couldn’t stop laughing.
Jayne: “No, you’re not being fired. Why would you think that?”
Me: “Well for starters, I’m not rehearsing. Secondly, you didn’t say what you wanted to talk about in the text. And lastly, you brought me to your office. Telltale signs of someone being fired.”
Jayne: “You’re not rehearsing because you’re going to be doing something once we’re done talking. Secondly, I didn’t tell you in the text because I wanted to tell you to your face. And lastly, you’re NOT being fired.”
Me: “Ok, well if I’m not being fired, then what’s going on?”
Jayne: “I wanted to talk about what happened yesterday during break because when you came back I felt like something was wrong. You can tell me the truth or I can ask the guys. It’s your choice.” I knew Jayne was right. Plus only Siva knew the truth. I began telling her what I told Becca and Siva and what happened at the house with Jill. By the end, she seemed confused. I’m not surprised. Me and Jill became really close and now she’s trying to fight me over a guy. She needs help. “So, what you’re telling me is. You and Jill like Nathan? And she told you to stay away from him because he likes you back?” I nodded. “Ok, so what we’re gonna do here is give everybody a day away from one another.” Jayne explained.
Me:“What do you mean?” I asked with confusion written all over my face.
Jayne: “Well, I’m gonna talk to them and make sure that everybody is at their own house. And for you, I think you should stay at NYU or a friend’s house for the night. Just to calm the tension between Jill and give Nathan some time to think. Is that understandable?” Jayne was being really fair considering the circumstances so I nodded. “Ok, good. Do you know where you’ll be staying?”
Me: “Umm, I could stay at a NYU but I have a friend in mind. Can I text you later with my plans?” She nodded before continuing.
Jayne: “Ok, so what I need for you to do after this is head to NYU and find Mrs. Knight. When you find her, tell her that we’re having a meeting next week and I need her to attend it. Ok?” I nodded. “Ok then, you’re free to go.” And with that, I got up headed towards the elevator.
