Je t'aime
A Poem based on The American Revolution
Under the stars
by the never-ending sea…
the waves and her tides welcome me.
“Je t’ aime, Je t’ aime”
I will continuously sigh
on the sandy territory where once
my love wept and cried.
Somewhere out there,
far on the ocean,
his boat will be rocking
to the wave’s given motion.
We both very well know,
he did not want to go
though as time had gone on,
his courage would grow
“Je t’ aime, Je t’aime"
I call out again really saying
“I love you, I love you”
as if he could hear the affection
I wished to send.
When would he come?
When would I see
that precious man’s face,
meaning so much to me.
“Je t’ aime, Je t’ aime…”
the next night I did cry.
The letter I had received that
day said the Holy father
took him home to his kingdom without a single goodbye.
I refused to believe it
so upon a rock I did sit.
My engagement ring shined,
by the moon it was lit.
I cried out the last time
“Je t’ aime, Je t’aime!”
My husband good and gone
made me cry…
The tears bitter and remorseful
my husband indeed a hero…
but my tears poured out…
they poured out forceful.
