The sun beams over the peaks of Clora, the central trading hub the sub-planet ΕΖ. "Come on! We don't want to be late!" I look over and it's my brother 01011. He is always ready to go to school, running down the hill towards the quickly approaching bus. Mother calls me over. Once I reach her she handed me my sticky brown bag for lunch and blew a kiss. Then I was off. The bus ride was anything but peaceful; kids throwing sticky balls they say are "just paper", but I am not fooled for one second. 01011 and I sit in our usual seats, not too far in the back, but close enough to an emergency exit so that we could get out if we needed to. I was quickly skimming the chapter of Unia that was due today when out of the corner of the eye I catch the glimpse of 01011."What?"
"Mom's not going to be happy when your progress owl comes 01010."
"I understand that but yesterday was a busy day, and so was Saturday, so I am trying to catch up, you know 01011!"
Suddenly the bus jolts forward and my book fly out of my hand, under the seats to the front of the bus.
"Damn! What's this stop all about!"
"There is a new student going to our school starting today"
"WHAT! TODAY IS THE LAST DAY BEFORE GRADUATION!"
"Yes, this person supposedly completed all required classes at his house."
A puzzled look stretched across my face because, in this society, homeschooling was seen as a forbidden practice which is why most schools become free, excepting textbooks which cost a few dollars on E-Viewer. Mine, however, was just flung to the front of the bus never to be seen again. How do I know this? It has happened multiple times, and this one was the last one my parents said they would pay for.
"This also is my stop, see ya bro." 1011 stated as he got up
The new kid came up to my seat nearly 20 seconds after 1011 had left, and handed me my E-Viewer.
"Thanks, you saved me there......"
"O, my number is 1010.1, also may sit there next to you?"
My first reaction was to say no, but of course, I said yes. Something about this new kid seemed off, maybe it was that fact that he was created one second after me, or it was that his hair was curved over one of is eyes and the menacing appearance of the cutest freckles under the left, and what I could see, of his right eye. The bus ride to the college I attended was longer and quieter than usual. So quiet that I got the book finished. So all there was to do was talk. During the last 10 minutes, I spent the time talking to 1010.1. He seems to be a nice guy, he likes everything I do, except for sports, since he is a jock. I, on the other hand, am not a jock. Actually, the complete opposite. Usually, after school, I go home then read. He has all sorts of sports and clubs. Some of which I didn't even know exist. At school, I went directly to first room; the E-Center. The E-Center is a room with a lot of plugs to download any book in the daily updated library. Today the updated copy of the Unia encyclopedia should be coming out. After spending half the period looking for the book, I find it, plug my E-Viewer into the available outlet, and vigorously check the bookstore for my book. With the luck of God, the book was there, and I got there just in time because I got the last copy! That made my day a little bit better. But, I had to get ready for my next class. Walking down the narrow hallway to my locker, I spot a piece of paper emerging from the small gap in between my locker and the floor. Before I can reach down to grab the piece of paper, the 5 minutes (or better known as the "run like hell bell") goes on over the speaker system. Rushing, I grab my history stuff and book it for the classroom. The moment I step in the door I remember that I left what I can only imagine is a note in the dark prison of binders, and notebooks that is my locker. History class for me this year is a lot more different than last years class, the major difference is that last year all the buffoons just had to get placed in my class which lead to nothing getting done. This year all the quiet people are in my class which means we get through a lot. After the class period ends I meet up with some friends and start walking over to the local restaurant to eat lunch. We walk down the sidewalk about two blocks, when we arrive at "Hazel's Pizzeria", once we open the door we are greeted with a friendly voice:
