The hardest thing is going on when the person who you thought would be right there with you was no longer there. Edward looked out the plane window, Seattle coming into view. Joe sat next to Edward, his head resting on his right hand, his eyes closed with a small snore coming from his slightly opened mouth.

"Joe, wake up," Edward said, tapping on Joe's shoulder, waking him right up. "We are here," Edward said, his voice small and tired.

Edward almost did not make it to the airport, he was determined to miss that flight and not have to see as they lowered his wife's corpse into a 6 feet hole. Joe was not having it and rushed to Edward's apartment and literally dragged him to the airport. "What is wrong with you?! this is something you have to do if not, you will regret this for the rest of your life!" Joe had said, and Edward thought "believe me, I would not be missed if I weren't to go."

As the plane landed safely, and every passenger started to collect their items from the luggage compartment Edward had already started to regret it. He was too embarrassed, he did not see it right by him to show up at Julia's parent's house and give his condolences when all along he was the reason she was laying in a coffin right at that moment.

Joe and Edward walked out of the plane with their small luggage, they had only brought one each, they were not going to be staying too long anyway. Ed and Joe were greeted by Julia's parent's chauffeur, he held a sign that said "Edward Knight and Joseph O'Bryan."

"Mrs. and Mr. Patterson are waiting at home, you guys are going to have time to freshen up a little before the funeral." Edward looked at this name tag "Rowland" it read, he wondered if that was his first name or last name. "Ed, are you okay?" Edward came out of his trance after hearing Joe's voice. He only nodded, and they walked out of the airport.

The car slowly came to a stop, Edward looked out the window and he was met with the big house. Well, more like a mansion. This house looked like three houses put together, every window on the second floor had a small balcony. Julia always hated it, she hated how her parents always tried to make everything about money, because as is evident, that is the one thing they were not lacking. That is why the second she had the chance she moved away.

Rowland opened Edward's door and they slowly stepped out. "I knew Julia was loaded but I never expected it to be like this," Joe said, eyeing the big mansion. Edward looked at the perfectly manicured grass and the beautiful pink and white flowers that adorned the outside of the house. The big brown door was soon opened and a man came out. The first thing Edward noticed was the expensive suit, it looked like from a movie and Edward was petrified to ruin that man's suit.

"Edward," Mr. Patterson sternly said. Julia's dad wanted nothing to do with Edward because he hated the fact that Julia married a middle-class man. Edward was not poor but to Maximus Patterson, a wannabe lawyer was not good enough for his precious daughter. Julia never listened though, but maybe she should have.

"Mr. Patterson," Edward said firmly shaking his hand. "This is Julia's and I best friend Joseph O'Bryan," Edward said but Mr. Patterson brushed him off and pushed the door open for them to walk in.

If Edward thought the outside of the house was the best part he was wrong, as soon as he walked inside the house he was met with the bright white wall that made the room feel so cold. The modern living room with the big white L-shaped sofa and the smaller white couch that matched perfectly made it feel like a magazine room. The room looked like nobody had sat there. The small fireplace under the maybe 75 inch TV was the only warm thing in the place. No wonder Julia never liked the white walls and fancy couches for their home. Edward thought about how it must have been when she was a child, what if she spilled something on the couches? What if she accidentally had thrown something into the fire?
