"Misa!"

I looked over my shoulder, seeing who had called me.

"Dinner's ready!" As soon as my mom said it, she walked back into our little house.

I scanned the landscape of our village. Our village was small, if you ask me. Our space was very limited, we could not travel far. We were surrounded by trees, and behind those trees, humongous mountains and we were not allowed to go out of that range. It was said by our leaders that danger lies there. Despite that fact, I was curious to explore beyond those lines. Obviously, if I would actually do that, I would.. get into lots of trouble. Later. I will.

The smell of Mom's freshly cooked dinner was just good. Very very good. It had been a long time since our family had this much food. Yes, the village's food supply had been coming back since it was almost summer. Oh, how much I love summer.

"Hey there, Squirrel.", spoke the cheerful voice of my dad.

"Hey!" I giggled. I loved it when my dad called me that.

"So. What were you doing?" He asked.

"Just exploring as usual." I answered.

"Did you give the package to the Ackworths'?" He smiled.

"Yes I did, Dad."

The Ackworth family were one of our neighbors. We were close to them. My best friend, Liz had been dying for it. Each family of our village got it every month. Inside it, it was just news which said what happened. I wasn't sure why she wanted it so badly..

Soon, we all went to bed, the three of us. My mom, dad and I shared the same bedroom, one bed for each of us, I was the farthest away from both of them. Laying there, the sticky heat kept me awake. I was very tired. Oh well. So much for loving summer.

Sometimes I felt lonely. You know, I'm not always with my friends and I want someone to be beside me most of the times. My parents are always busy so they don't have much time with me. My mom sews, makes and fixes clothes and such, and my dad, he chops wood and does these hauling works. I don't always ask for much but, a sibling would do. I've always wanted a sister or a brother. Most of my friends have do have a sister or a brother and I get jealous sometimes. The laughter, the joy of playing with each other sometimes make me feel pangs of sadness. My parents always say we don't have enough money for another mouth to feed whenever I bring the topic. After all, I guess I won't get to have a sibling.
