Austin's perspective
Lark and I head down to the shooting range and stand behind the line. Lark loads an arrow in her bowstring and pulls her arm back. She aims at the target and misses. By a lot.
"That's fine." I say " You haven't practiced in awhile. You need to warm up."
Lark forces a smile and tries again. She didn't miss by as much as she did before. But her arrow still missed the target. I sigh and look at the target. This would take time.
Lark keeps shooting until she runs out of arrows. Only three had hit the target. All three on the left edge.
"Just need to keep practicing." I say, looking at the arrows again. Lark goes to get them. I wondered if she would be ready in time for the mission.
"You don't need to stay. I'm probably going to be here all day." Lark says, waving me off from where she was standing, pulling the arrows from the target.
"Call me if you need anything." I say, holding up my arm with the bracelet. Lark waves me off again. I head out the door to find Crystal and Ever in the front sitting room. I hide next to the doorway and listen to what they are talking about.
"I think I might be ready to help on the mission," Ever was saying.
"Good. You know the GD better than all of us. I was thinking with the right outfit and wig, you could go undercover into one of the GD's parties to help get Terra ready to be rescued." Crystal explains.
"I think that could work." Ever considers. I hear footsteps in the kitchen and quickly look over. Jeremy was at the counter with his back to me. He seemed to be preparing something like tea or some drink. I panic for as he starts to slowly turn around. I look around me and see that the door to a closet is open. I run in as quickly and quietly as I can and watch through the small crack between the door and door frame as Jeremy carefully walks into the sitting room with three mugs in his hands.
"Thanks Jeremy." Crystal says. I sigh a sigh of relief and slowly leave the closet.
"So, we sneak into a party, get Terra ready, and somehow get her out through a window of some sort?" Ever asks "How do we do that?"
"I was thinking of getting Austin in as well. He could bring some knock-out gas and make the whole room unconscious. All you and Terra would have to do would be cover your mouth and nose. Then, we could break open a window and get you three out through a helicopter." Crystal explains.
"No doubt they'd follow us. We can't just go back to the base and risk it getting destroyed." Jeremy counters
"That's where you, Lark and Naomi come in. After getting Terra, we fly to this abandoned carnival that I found and try to lose them in there. I have it rigged with all sorts of traps and defenses. We'll be safe there. Lark and Naomi can wait there, should we need backup." Crystal says. I hear someone stand up and I duck into the closet again.
"Call Austin, Lark and Naomi to the armory. We have a plan to discuss." Ever says, walking by the closet. I duck into the dark corner and hope nobody would look into the closet. Why were they hiding the fact that Ever was healed from us?
Naomi's perspective
I head up the stairs to the roof and sit on the ledge looking over the city. I had seen Lark and Austin heading to the shooting range as I was doing so. They were smiling and laughing. That made me smile too. Lark seemed to be getting better. Better enough to practice. Though I doubt she'll be ready to actively help on the mission. I sigh and look out over the streets. It wasn't until I heard some familiar voices a while later that I started paying attention.
"I think I might be ready to help on the mission," Ever said. They must have left the sitting room window open.
"Good. You know the GD better than all of us. I was thinking with the right outfit and wig, you could go undercover into one of the GD's parties to help get Terra ready to be rescued." Crystal explains.
"I think that could work." Ever considers. I hear another person enter the room. Judging by the heavy footsteps, it must have been Jeremy. I had known the guy for a while but something just feels off now.
"Thanks Jeremy." Crystal says, confirming that it was, indeed Jeremy. I had no idea what Crystal was thanking Jeremy for but that wasn't important. I wanted to know what the hell they were talking about.
"So, we sneak into a party, get Terra ready, and somehow get her out through a window of some sort?" Ever asks "How do we do that?" Good question, Ever. How do we do that?
"I was thinking of getting Austin in as well. He could bring some knock-out gas and make the whole room unconscious. All you and Terra would have to do would be cover your mouth and nose. Then, we could break open a window and get you three out through a helicopter." Crystal explains. I consider this. Yes-Yes it could work. I notice that I am slowly nodding to myself as I consider this plan.
"No doubt they'd follow us. We can't just go back to the base and risk it getting destroyed." Jeremy counters. I hadn't thought of that. Jeremy really know the GD. Maybe he could make himself useful.
Me? I was backup? I had known Crystal for a long time and she knows that I hate being left as backup. We never need it. I liked being in the action. I hear someone get up and walk out. I think it was Ever. She said something as she left but it was too far for me to hear. I just wanted to know why they were hiding the fact that Ever was healed. What is going on here?
