"I think I could be going crazy, going crazy ohhhhhh ohhhhhhh feeling the walls......"
Suddenly my earphones were ripped out of my ears. I slowly opened my eyes to my very angry best friend Ashleigh.
"El, we have to go to orientation and you have not finished unpacking your bag yet, and we need to leave now," she was practically yelling at me. She always mothers me.
"Gees Ash calm down okay? We will be fine it starts in," I looked at my watch, "2 minutes..... um, I think we should run." She looked at me for a second then grabbed my arm and we sprinted.
Hey, my name is Ellie-Anne Parkland (yes I know weird name, my mum likes to be a bit inventive) and I am 19 years old. I have electric blue eyes and long, wavy red hair. I am very tall and slim (well that is what Ashleigh says anyway). I have just officially moved into the world's best collage Patterson Prep Collage (a majorly rich performance school) with my best friend Ashleigh Carlton who is short (well practically my height), very skinny, has very very long thin dead straight blonde hair and has brown eyes . We are freshman and we are very late for orientation which is not a very good start to the year, I know. This collage just opened a couple of years ago in the West part of Chicago, America. Ashleigh and I have just moved here from Australia.
I am the youngest of 9 kids and the only girl. To make that even better I am the only red head in my entire family. My mum and dad promise I was not adopted but I don't believe that. Ashleigh and I became best friends in grade 7 when I moved to the Northern Territory with my family from Brisbane. We moved because I was being very badly bullied. Everyone I knew bullied me and I hated my life. My dad was so fed up with the whole bullying situation he convinced us all to move.
*Flash back about 9 or 10 years ago*
"Darling? Can I come in?" my dad said softly as he stepped into my room.
"Go away, go away! Don't look at me I'm ugly and fat and nobody likes me," I cried into my pillow. When I said this dad walked in and sat on the bed next to me.
"No you are not, darling. Your brothers, your mother and I all love you. Don't listen to what those other girls say. Especially if Tyla says anything. She is just jealous that you are so strong and have a family that loves you," Dad was patting me on the back by now. He pulled me into a hug.
"Daddy I'm a freak. I am the only one in our family that has red hair. Why would Tyla be jealous she is pretty and everyone likes her. She was my best friend and now she has just stomped on everything I have told her. Everyone else does what she does and now I have no friends," I whispered because I was on the verge of tears. Dad sat there hugging me till I had stopped sobbing and was back to normal.
"Darling, I just got off the phone with your Uncle Fred and he told me some very good news," Dad said with a hopeful look on his face.
"What?" I muttered.
"Ellie we are moving to the Northern Territory. Fred has a second house he is not using and it is big enough for the whole family to fit. He also has a job for me when I get there that has very good pay. I have already talked to your mother and the boys and everyone is on board with idea," he said this very fast and just stared at me while he said it. I could feel tears coming up in my eyes and a smile spread across my face. I am leaving Brisbane the place where my life has fallen apart.
"Daddy thank you, thank you, thank you!" I screamed while laughing and crying at the same time.
*End of flashback*
The dorms we are living in are amazing! Each room has its own kitchen and each person has their own massive double bed and walk in wardrobe. Also there is a huge bathroom with a spa bath. The man who owns this school is a trillion-air and spends a lot of money making it comfortable for the students. The down side of the dorms is that they are on the other side of the massive campus. When I say massive I mean it takes 20 minutes to get from the front of the campus where the hall/office/multi-purpose building to the dorms. The dorms are 10 stories high and we so happen to be on the 5th level.
