Stranger on the Subway: Abigail Jones, 23 (POV), Josh Cameron, 27

The clock finally hits 7:00, my eyes playing games with the stupid clock hanging on the wall for the past hour, and I don't hesitate one moment to get out of here for the weekend. Thankfully, I have an extra day off this weekend, which is amazing because I never have Friday's off. Thank you Sammy, for asking to switch days earlier in the week, I thought to myself.

"Bye," I lightly shout to everyone, not missing the beat to get home, slipping into the windy January weather outside, barely starting to be dusk. As I head to the subway, just a few minute walk from work, I take in a deep breath of how refreshing it is outside. The bare trees, the wind teasing the smell of warmth from nearby shops. I make a right, heading for the same subway I have been taking since I stared my job downtown, about a year ago.

I arrive to the subway spot and head downstairs, knowing my usual Subway will be here in about 5 minutes, sitting in an empty spot and pulling my phone out. One text from Dee, my best friend, anticipating her trying to set me up with someone since she's tried all week, sending me pictures of "possible matches," as she says. I roll my eyes to see exactly that, a pretty good looking guy, but she already knows that I'm in no rush.

"Still no, Dee. I don't want to rush into anything right now. xo." I text back, hearing my subway approach.

She texts me back within a minute, unsurprisingly reading, "Abigail! Don't be so picky, you have to date somebody soon, you haven't dated in over 2 years! Fine. You wanna be picky? Clubbing tomorrow night. I'll be over at 7."

I sigh, knowing she isn't going to listen to me and put my phone away, standing up to enter the subway, which was loudly pulling up, blowing extra wind through the hall, causing chills to spread over my body. The doors open, people flooding in and out, and I slide in, sitting in my usual spot, but see the subway is unusually packed filled, and grab a handle bar from the top rail instead.

More people flow in, and the subway doors close, slowly taking off and heading to the next stop, my stop only about 15 minutes away. I look around, glancing at all the people as they finish gathering themselves and finding spots until they arrive at their destination. A tall man with broad shoulders stands next to me, grabbing the handle bar right next to mine and I try to shuffle to make a little room.

I glance over at him, taking in his rough features- his black suit which fit perfectly on his body, like it was mean to be on him; his body towering over me easily by at least 7 inches, but his stance was so perfect, it made me want to caress his arm. I look up at him, to see him watching me, his dark brown eyes piercing down at me-making my body jump. The subway hits the next stop, allowing more people to shuffle in and out, snap me back into reality.

" Whoa, Abigail, what is wrong with you right now?" I think to myself, shaking my thoughts. I quickly scan the subway as people leave to see if I can move to another spot, but nothing catches my eye and the subway trolls along.

A few minutes pass by, enough for me to control my body as I keep my eyes out the window, waiting till I can exit the subway bus. I take a deep breath, noticing I still have about 10 minutes till my stop. I hear him clear his throat, and a breath escape his lips, knowing he is going to talk to me.

"Did I offend you, uh-" he pauses, searching for a name, but confidently continues instead, "miss?" Somehow, his words rolled like silk of his lips, and although he was unsure, he was confident.

"Abigail" I say smoothly, making sure to stay calm and my voice not shaky. "My name is Abigail Jones. And no, you didn't offend me, I am so sorry if I was acting weird, uh.." I pause and lightly smile, "Sir? I finish, referring to him calling me miss.
