Stupid And Fearless (All Time Low)

(Summary)

James was just another normal kid. He liked playing outside and building spacecrafts out of Lego. His bed was rarely made and he had more clothes on his floor than in his drawers, and like every other boy, James had a crush on the prettiest girl in school, Laura.

But, unlike the other children in his class, James didn't have a hard working dad who would take him to football games on the weekends. His mom didn't comfort him when he'd scrape his knees falling off his bike or when he'd wake up shaking in the middle of the night because of a nightmare. No, James didn't have that, in fact he didn't have parents at all.

Now, don't think that he was some sort of magical creature who appeared out of the blue. He was born from a man and women like every other child, only he never got the chance to get to know them. He couldn't even remember them at all, all he knew was bits and pieces he'd gathered from old news articles with headlines such as "tragic incident on highway" or "reckless driver charged with murder".

You see, James had spent the past fifteen years in several different homes. He was often transferred from one place to another, learning to adapt quickly to anything life would throw at him next. He was never mistreated, he was simply unloved. The folks who'd run the homes filled with kids with no where else to go tried their best to take care of them all but they never quite seemed to have the time or energy for affection.

All this goes to explain why James wasn't happy with his life, yet full of hope that one day he would grow up to be an adventurer or a fireman or whatever it is that 16 year old boys dream of becoming. Yes, he dreamed of being happy.
