Chapter 1

Here I am, again, just watching and waiting for the roof to move. Like I do every night before dad gets home. Is he drunk or not? Will he hurt mum again or not? Will I have to run?  These thoughts are just running through my head over and over again. Next minute I found myself jumping at my bed room door opening it was my brother Riley. "The window! Go!" he said sharply but quietly because dad was about to walk In the door. "Wheres mum?" "She's at work remember" Elly my little sister stated still being quiet. "Is dad drunk?" I whispered they just nodded and helped elly out the window "wheres jay?"I said.  Jay is Rileys friend who stayed over. "He went out my window." Someone said I wasn't really listening because I was slowly climbing out the window.  We all got out safe.  "Where is everyone" a loud voice yelled from inside. My life has been like this since Elly was born. Ellys dad is not my dad he's not riley dad either. He just forces us to call him dad. "What do we do now?"a formula voice said. Before I could turn around, he picked me up from behind.  start to laugh as he puts me down and we run to his place. (By the way you and jay are dating). We got there and snuck in the house. Jays mum didn't like people coming over. Jay went down and got us some food while everyone went to grab our sleeping bags. We often have to go to his place so we just leave our stuff there. We have dinner and everyone went to bed.  It was getting late and we had school tomorrow. It suddenly became extremely quiet and I was the only one awake. Well I thought I was anyway. "You still up? " I turned around to see that it was jay. "Huh?" was all that managed to come out. He just smiled and helped me up. He then took my hand and lead me outside. We walked down to the beach. "What are we doing here?"
